What's new
🐉 Arcanum Chronicles
The comfort of vanilla Minecraft ends the moment you step outside.
Arcanum Chronicles is a NeoForge 1.21.1 modpack built for players who found RLCraft's brutality addictive but wanted something a little more grounded in dragons, monsters, and real combat consequences instead of pure chaos. This isn't a "collect 200 mods and hope" pack — it's five carefully chosen pieces that reinforce each other into one coherent, punishing survival loop.
❄️ Survival that fights back — Cold Sweat
Forget passive hunger bars. Cold Sweat introduces a full temperature simulation: wander into a snowy peak without insulation and you'll freeze before you starve. Push into a desert at noon without shade and heatstroke will do worse than any mob. You'll need to actually manage campfires, insulated armor, and shelter — not just stockpile steak.
⚔️ Combat with weight — Epic Fight
Vanilla combat is a click-fest. Epic Fight throws that out and replaces it with a stamina-driven, animation-locked, souls-like system. Attacks have windup and recovery, dodges matter, and enemies (especially the new ones below) will punish button-mashing. Every fight becomes a decision, not a formality.
🐲 Dragons in the sky — Ice and Fire: Community Edition
The signature RLCraft threat, rebuilt for modern Minecraft. Fire and ice dragons claim mountain ranges and cave systems as territory, hoard loot in their dens, and will end an unprepared expedition fast. Beyond dragons, expect myrmex hives, sea serpents, and other mythical creatures woven into world generation.
🦁 A world that bites back — Alex's Mobs
Dozens of new creatures — some grounded in real animal behavior, some purely fantastical — spread across every biome. Many aren't hostile until provoked, which means exploration itself becomes a risk-assessment game: is that thing in the water safe to swim past, or is it about to end your run?
📚 The framework underneath — Citadel
An invisible but essential piece: Citadel provides the animation and entity systems that Alex's Mobs (and much of the wider "creature mod" ecosystem) depends on. No gameplay of its own — just the engine keeping everything else running smoothly.
What this actually feels like to play
Expect slow, cautious progression. Early game is about survival fundamentals — insulation, food, shelter — before you're remotely ready to engage the world's real threats. Combat is deliberate and mistakes are expensive. Dragons are not early-game content; treat sightings as a warning, not an invitation. This is a pack for players who want tension back in Minecraft, not a checklist of features to speedrun through.
