Allusion Adventures

Allusion made this modpack to ensure we have fun things to do and adventures to go on for a long while. We have steam punk stuff, techno babble, goofy wizard things, chill farming stuff, and even ways of making yourself feel as pretty as a princess! There’s tons of bosses, dimensions, tools, spells, friends, monsters to find, and we’re going to do it all together!

Creating this was a challenge. There’s plenty of our favourites we wanted to add for enjoyment (namely ProjectE) but they quickly unbalanced the game and tended to undermine the sense of achievement that comes with gaining power and knowledge through your own hard work. We very carefully shot each other in the face, blew up lots of stuff, and rained down magical destruction until we found a good mix of things that felt fun to use but doesn’t break the challenge of taking the world by storm.

Rather than trying to list every single feature available within this modpack, I’ve listed each of the 20 core mods and why we added them (see below). For a more detailed account of what each mod does I invite you to google them by name. Mods may come and go from this list but the theme of balanced and diverse fun will remain the same.

- Ars Nouveau -
This is one of my favourites! There are theoretically infinite spells to play with and gear to spec into, I can’t wait to see how much nonsense will spawn from this one mod in particular! Magical utility is what makes this one unique, you can be more than just the D&D fireball sorc… but you won’t want to 😉

- Applied Energistics 2 -
This is the technically minded side of the modpack. If you have the patience to attack a complex tech tree head-on, you’ll likely find a fun time in the rewarding process and powerful but costly items here.

- Biomes O’ Plenty –

We’ve all seen the same couple dozen things in Vanilla Minecraft many times now, here we can create a reason for the more seasoned players to still venture out and see the many sights we’ll be adding to our worlds!

- Botania -
Some of us don’t want the stress and chaos of a foray into unknown dimensions or dangerous dungeons. Instead, you can chill out and do some farming with a big splash of magic thrown in. Lots of challenges throughout and some big payoffs if you can overcome them!

- Chiseled –

This one we added for a little variation on the same blocks we’ve all used a couple thousand times at this point. Makes it possible for some unique personal flare on our builds that otherwise might seem a bit redundant.

- Chunk Loaders –

Being pretty obvious I hope, we added this one for QoL on our server and any other worlds you might make. With all this mana, power generation, crops, etc. We needed a way to ensure they grow even when no one’s around.

- Cosmetic Armor Reworked –

We’ve always been a little obsessive as a group about how we present our virtual avatars. It’s a shame to see our meticulously crafted skins be covered by ugly armours we need for stats. It’s used by clicking the little shirt icon to the bottom right of our paper dolls when pressing E.

- Curios API –

Allows us to add many more slots for armor and accessories (accessed from the top left above our paper dolls when pressing E) which we’re all more used to from playing years of MMOs and RPGs.

- Curios Elytra -
Another convenience thing, we like being able to fly without undressing for the privilege.

- Ender Storage -

This allows ender storage to be shared across predefined colour schemed chests. Great for transferring resources to your friend who lives on the other side of the server, but you still want to send a bunch of cobblestone.

- Gravestone Mod -
Better than having KeepInventory turned on so that you can’t just kill yourself to get home each time, now you face consequences for dying, but hopefully nothing truly important will ever be lost. Plus you can find someone’s old corpse and go grave robbing!

­- Ice and Fire -
This one is where our whole modding expedition started. We got this mod and knew we needed more to play with friends. What’s better than raising a thunder of dragons with friends?! Seriously, these guys are adorable and make for great boss fights when you come across them in the world.

- Immersive Engineering -

For those of us (Freiki) who can’t resist the intricate and complicated Steam Punk aesthetic, you now have a deep pool to dive into! A retro take on power generation and cool items that rock hard! Having said that, the guns in this do tend to crash games and servers so watch out for that.

- Iron Chests -

Some of us don’t want to take on the huge complexity of Applied Energistics and computer systems right away so we made sure there’s a good storage option that hits a little closer to the vanilla method we all know. Bigger chests? No problem! Don’t even need to empty them first.

- Journey Map -

Adds a way for some of us (she who shall not be named) to avoid getting lost quite as often. This also allows for custom waypoints and view of other players so you know where your friends are relative to you.

- Just Enough Items –

We’re adding a lot of new nonsense to the game, JEI adds a way to understand the crafting recipes for each item we add. Just press the picture of the item you want on the right of your inventory screen or search it and voila! Item recipes!

- Pam’s Havestcraft 2 –

Crops and Food, making sure there’s something fun and creative to do with all the weird organic materials that pile up. Since Fredi can’t be the only snack we have to play with.

- Simple Generators –

This one just adds a power source for many of the other mods. Nothing too fancy, but it’s the most balanced solution we could find. Most others started adding OP power armors or nukes to the game.

- Simply Light -

Everyone’s bored to death of torches, so now we have some gAmEr RGB goodness so you can make a giant model of your battle station! Honestly though, just more pleasing to the eye when making a nice little base.

- Twilight Forest -

More bosses, dimensions, mobs, loot, everything! Another fun place for us to explore and stress our the nervous! I can’t wait to see what happens when we start invading it with dragons and magic!

Of course, not included in this list are the various API and Library mods we require to make everything work properly.

In addition to all the stuff above we’ll also ensure that the control scheme of this pack is conflict free so that you don’t accidentally start activating the in-game narrator when you were just trying to set a new waypoint.

The Allusion Modded server is also pre-added to the multiplayer list so that you can jump right in! Generally, we ensure we have friends we know and enjoy playing with so please don’t expect instant access to a private world.
