If you are experiencing issues with updating the then follow these steps:

Curseforge:

• Make a copy of your World and options.txt
• Download a fresh instance on v1.9
• Upload your world and options.txt onto the newly installed v1.8 instance

ATLauncher:

• Should be fine, if not follow then follow the same steps as Curseforge

Prism Launcher:

• Update the modpack as normal
• Error should pop up, restart launcher and update should be there
