Zombie Village 4.57.295 — release notes

What's new

  • Villagers now survive the Nether and the End. A villager's health, attack, and armor scale with the dimension it's standing in — doubled in the Nether, tripled in the End (the Overworld is unchanged). An End villager is now around 60 HP with tripled punch and armor, tough enough to actually win a fight with a plain Enderman instead of dying in three hits.
  • Only a villager's innate stats scale — any weapon or armor a Defender or profession villager is holding still adds on top at its normal value, so geared units stay balanced rather than blown out of proportion.
  • A villager that walks into (or spawns in) the Nether/End keeps its current health fraction as its health pool grows, so it never gets one-shot at low effective HP during the transition.

Under the hood

  • Scaling is applied server-side via permanent, per-dimension attribute modifiers that are recomputed whenever a villager changes dimension (spawn, world load, or portal travel); the scaled stats sync to clients automatically. Reviewed to rule out a reload/chunk-churn free-heal and a gear-multiplication overshoot.

Requires / compatible with

  • Minecraft 1.21.1
  • NeoForge 21.1.224+
  • Freedom Lib 0.7.1+
  • ZV-Houses 0.1.148+
  • Spells & Spellcrafting (required)
  • JEI (optional)

Migration notes

  • None. Existing worlds and villages load unchanged; the scaling applies itself the first time each villager ticks in its dimension.
