What's new
Ymondf 0.3.0-beta (Continuing the existing Boss / Eclipse Set / Curtain Call entries)
Pre-Battle Build-Up (30–40 Minutes)
The time before fighting the Moon God is no longer empty. Four stages, 20 cutscenes, and 5 ordinary dialogues, all driven by StoryProgress flags and sanity values, with all presentation content going through data pack JSON.
- Stage 1 "Cracks in the Everyday": Tinnitus and afterimages begin 180 seconds after entering the world; the first time you sleep, you're dragged into a dark room to retrieve the "Handover Form"; after waking, a line of footprints that aren't yours appears beside the bed; at nightfall, a black ring surfaces around the moon.
- Stage 2 "Abandoned Observation Stations": Each of the three stations has its own dedicated shots (pushing open the door, the cabin's lights coming on when you look back, the figure standing on the roof, the tally marks carved into the cellar wall); collecting all five torn pages automatically assembles them.
- Stage 3 "Sanity Mutation": Sanity dropping below 45 triggers a corridor hallucination; dropping below 20 triggers a "false descent" — the screen goes black, only sound remains, and when it lights up again there is nothing.
- Stage 4 "Altar Activation": When the structure is built correctly but the time is wrong, the sky darkens once first; right-click the lodestone at midnight, and after the altar presentation ends, it cuts directly to the black hole video.
New Overworld old well (coordinates 24, -24): a 5×5 stone brick well shaft with water at the bottom, automatically built when the chunk first loads.
Presentation comes in two types: major cutscenes lock movement + add black bars; micro-performances only show a single line of narration or a sound effect, without interrupting exploration.
The 20 cutscenes and 5 ordinary dialogues can all be edited directly in the JSON under data/ymondf/story_cutscene and data/ymondf/story_dialogue.
Story Characters
Beside each of the three observation stations is a recorder: Yan (North), Old Yan (East), and the Corridor Person (West), each using their own independent skin. They do not follow the player, do not wander, and cannot be killed; when the player comes within 8 blocks they look up at the person, and after the player walks away they lower their head and continue recording. Names are displayed above their heads, and there is a page-turn sound when they switch posture as you approach. Right-click to start a dialogue: each has three topics (Nails / Well / Corridor), with different answers that write to the corresponding flag; after asking all three about the corridor, a summary narration is triggered. At the end of the dialogue, "That's all." is provided to end it directly.
Voiceover
All narration and character lines have voice acting: 66 Chinese lines and 66 English lines, 132 audio files in total. Narration, Yan, Old Yan, and the Corridor Person each use a different timbre, with speaking rate and pauses differentiated by character. Cutscene subtitles and dialogue boxes share the same voiceover data: after changing lines, simply regenerate the audio, and subtitles and voice will never mismatch. When the client language is English, English voiceover is automatically used, falling back to Chinese for missing entries.
Quest Guide UI
The current objective and progress are displayed vertically centered on the left side of the screen; hidden when there is no quest, to avoid covering the status icons in the top-left corner.
Click to collapse into a single line; the state is written to config/ymondf-client.properties.
Ctrl+X opens the full list: 12 clues, completed ones checked and grayed out, with a highlight bar to the left of the current objective.
Progress only reads existing flags; the server syncs only when content changes, without per-frame polling.
Moon in the Well
When the player looks down at the well mouth, another moon in the water surfaces at the bottom of the screen: a concentric-circle moon body, three breathing water ripples, scattered glimmers. A vignette is simultaneously pressed in around the edges; after looking up or leaving the well mouth, it fades out in about 300 milliseconds.
