What's new
0.2.0
a alpha version
The first version of the Moon Phase Arena and Boss. Development builds prior to this version were not released separately, so 0.2.0 is the first time the moon phase content has been packaged.
Moon Phase Arena A new dimension: ymondf:moon_phase_arena:
Sky: full of stars, no clouds, no sun, no moon, dark celestial sphere Arena: a circular platform with a radius of 31 blocks, at height y=100, colored in four layers by radius (central hub / stone bricks / polished andesite / outer ring), plus a quartz "pointer" extending from the center toward the north Fence: a ring of 3-block-high barriers between radius 30–31, to prevent jumping out Outside is the void: falling below y=80 means death; you do not need to fall all the way down Lighting is fixed at the noon level, so the arena is bright while the sky remains starry (the End sky does not draw sun or moon; time only affects lighting) The platform and fence are generated on demand when the chunk loads, and only fill air, so dug-out ground will return when reloaded Entry:
text /execute in ymondf:moon_phase_arena run tp @s 0 100 0 Moon Phase An entity hanging in the sky, located 90 blocks west of the dimension center and 30 blocks high (elevation angle about 18°, low in the western sky).
Cannot be attacked, cannot collide, cannot be pushed; just pass through it The entity itself only stores position and state; the visual is a large circle drawn at the entity's position facing the camera, not an enlarged model The texture is a separate file (textures/environment/moon_phase.png), with soft edges + craters + outer glow Self-illuminated: completely unaffected by world lighting; at any brightness it has its own brightness Visuals change with phase: new moon 0.30 brightness / 0.74 size → full moon 1.00 brightness / 1.15 size; when dark it leans cool blue, when bright it is pure white Health Bar and Phases The BossBar at the top of the screen is divided into four phases, each taking 25%:
Phase Health Range Bar Color New Moon 100% – 75% Blue First Quarter 75% – 50% Purple Full Moon 50% – 25% White Last Quarter 25% – 0% Red Phase transitions are gradual, not hard cuts. Within 60 ticks after crossing a threshold:
The moon's size and brightness interpolate from the previous phase to the current phase Monsters from the old phase disappear one by one, and monsters from the new phase appear one by one, alternating The 25% threshold corresponds to switching into "Last Quarter," and also emits MoonPhaseChangeEvent—the detonation of the two cannons is hooked here.
Monster Summoning Each phase has a fixed number of monsters for the first batch, then random reinforcements afterward:
Phase Monsters Special New Moon Zombie / Skeleton / Spider / Creeper — First Quarter Blaze / Wither Skeleton / Enderman / Magma Cube — Full Moon Husk / Stray / Witch / Phantom — Last Quarter Wither Skeleton / Blaze / Enderman / Zombified Piglin Strength I Spawn points are random polar coordinates on the disc (radius 6–24); each one is tagged for kill counting and batch cleanup. Each kill removes 0.8% of the moon's health; filling one bar takes about 125 kills.
Battle Music Four music tracks that switch with the phases, with crossfading.
Composed at 96 BPM in D minor; the motif is a descending three-note A → F → E (never resolving back to the tonic), and the answer phrase climbs in reverse E → F → G → A Four characters: New Moon has only a low D drone and scattered noises; First Quarter has broken plucked strings plus intermittent drums; Full Moon is the heaviest (low-end bedding, then at 3:40 it jumps up two octaves for a whole section, at 4:00 falls back into empty space, and at 4:10 has a second explosion); Last Quarter has high-pitched fragments plus a steady kick drum When switching phases, the old track fades out over 60 ticks and the new track fades in over the same 60 ticks, with overlap in between Leaving the arena also fades it out Other Fixes The moon was originally almost directly overhead (only 24 blocks horizontally offset and 180 blocks higher, elevation 82°). It is now 90 blocks west and 30 blocks high. The moon was originally semi-transparent and dark; brightness and transparency shared one value, and the new moon was only 70% opaque, looking small and fake. It is now opaque + self-illuminated rendering. The dimension sky originally did not take effect: the effect id in dimension_type did not match the one registered in code, and it silently fell back to the Overworld sky, so you could see the sun, moon, and clouds, and the arena also had midnight darkness. Now both sides are unified as ymondf:moon_phase. Tuning Spawn interval 120 → 40 ticks, reinforcement chance 0.65 → 0.9, on-field cap 12 → 20, per batch 4 → 6 Kill damage 2% → 0.8%
