Yazz's Dungeons: The Sequel — v1.0.0
Initial Release!
The first version of Yazz's Dungeons: The Sequel is here! This release introduces a major Warden rework, the Twisted Warden boss encounter, a new soul-collection system, new blocks, and several mechanics inspired by Minecraft Dungeons while being redesigned for Java Edition.
Twisted Warden
- Added the Twisted Warden, a completely custom boss with its own model, animations, sounds, visual effects, boss bar and boss music.
- Added a full emergence/introduction sequence.
- Added two sweeping melee attacks with forward lunges.
- Added a powerful Roar attack that pushes enemies away and applies debuffs.
- The Roar can summon groups of hostile minions around the boss.
- Added a large Spin Attack that lets the Twisted Warden charge around the arena, damage enemies and bounce away from walls.
- Added a reworked Sonic Boom attack with multiple travelling damage waves.
- Sonic Boom can additionally release several soul projectiles with different attack patterns.
- Added the Soul Vomit attack, covering portions of the arena in dangerous soul-fire hazards.
- Soul Vomit burns players and deals percentage-based damage to mobs.
- Added custom soul-fire visuals for entities affected by Soul Vomit.
- Added custom damage rules and resistance mechanics for the boss.
- Projectiles striking the Twisted Warden from behind can be deflected.
- The Twisted Warden is immune to fire and fall damage.
- Added custom shield-breaking behavior to several attacks.
- Added special targeting and retaliation behavior.
- Added a complete custom death sequence with a gradual dissolve.
- The first player kill awards a much larger XP reward, with smaller rewards for repeat kills.
- Shrieker-bound Twisted Wardens return to their arena after remaining without a target for too long.
- Optional recovery healing allows the boss to regenerate while waiting at its Twisted Shrieker.
- Arena-bound Twisted Wardens can destroy Sculk and player-placed obstacles they physically run into.
- Twisted Wardens can move through their own Twisted Shrieker and other minor arena obstacles instead of getting stuck on them.
- Added a short delay between major abilities to prevent several specials from immediately chaining together.
The Twisted Warden's direct combat includes custom swipe, spin and Sonic Boom damage systems rather than relying on ordinary vanilla melee behavior.
Twisted Shrieker
- Added the Twisted Shrieker.
- Twisted Shriekers are powered using souls stored inside a Wraithlight Lantern.
- The first Twisted Warden summon requires 5 souls.
- Later summons from the same Shrieker require 10 souls.
- Charged Twisted Shriekers react to player-caused vibrations similarly to vanilla Sculk Shriekers.
- Players can also trigger one by stepping directly on it.
- Added a custom deep-pitched shriek sequence, particles, Darkness and Warden warning sounds.
- A fully charged activation summons the Twisted Warden nearby.
- The Shrieker remembers its summoned boss and cannot summon another while its Warden is still active.
- Souls are consumed only after a successful boss summon.
- Failed spawn attempts preserve the stored souls so the encounter can be retried.
- Twisted Shriekers visually react to stored souls and their active boss.
- During an active Twisted Warden encounter, Darkness can be suppressed around the arena so outside Darkness sources do not interfere with the fight.
The Twisted Shrieker retains the familiar vibration/shrieking idea while using its own soul-powered boss lifecycle.
Wraithlight Lantern & Souls
- Added the Wraithlight Lantern.
- Wraithlight Lanterns can capture and store wandering souls.
- Lantern capacity can be configured by the server.
- Placed lanterns become brighter as more souls are stored inside them.
- Souls are attracted toward nearby Wraithlight Lanterns and can orbit around them.
- Charged Wraithlight Lanterns repel Piglins.
- Added animated Wraithlight Souls with several cyan/blue color variations.
- Souls wander naturally through the world and avoid nearby players.
- Souls disappear if left uncaptured for too long.
- Killing a vanilla Warden releases several souls.
- Breaking a vanilla Sculk Shrieker has a chance of releasing a soul.
- Added ambient soul activity between Sculk Shriekers:
- individual Shriekers receive their own randomized activity timers;
- souls can emerge from one Shrieker and rapidly arc through the air toward another;
- multiple transfers can happen simultaneously;
- travelling souls can still be intercepted and captured;
- travelling souls ignore lantern attraction until their journey ends;
- custom particles and sounds accompany souls entering and leaving Shriekers.
- Added an advancement for collecting a soul.
Vanilla Warden Rework
- Significantly expanded the vanilla Warden.
- Increased its durability and added armor.
- Added new custom melee animations and attacks.
- Added swipe and slam attacks.
- Added an Echo Roar ability.
- Reworked the Sonic Boom with a longer, animated wind-up and custom visual sequence.
- Added new combat digging and emerging behavior.
- Added additional suspicious/investigation behavior.
- Added new battle, stagger, roar and movement animations.
- Added a custom extended death sequence.
- Various targeting, movement and combat timings have been adjusted to make Warden encounters more involved.
Soul Vomit
- Added the temporary Soul Vomit hazard used by the Twisted Warden.
- Soul Vomit spreads across irregular patches of terrain rather than forming one perfect circle.
- Hazard layouts contain intentional walkable routes so players aren't completely trapped.
- Players touching Soul Vomit are covered in Soul Fire and continue burning briefly after escaping it.
- Mobs standing inside it periodically take damage based on their maximum health.
- The Twisted Warden and its allies are immune to its own Soul Vomit.
- Added custom glowing rendering, particles and soul-fire effects.
Creative players and the Twisted Warden's allies are specifically excluded from the hazard's effects.
New Decorative / Utility Blocks
- Added the Deepslate Brazier.
- Added the Soul Deepslate Brazier.
- Both are lit when placed.
- Braziers can be extinguished using a shovel.
- Extinguished Braziers can be relit using Flint and Steel or a Fire Charge.
- Added animated fire, smoke and campfire crackling effects.
- Lit Braziers damage entities standing on top of them.
- The Soul Deepslate Brazier behaves similarly to a Soul Campfire:
- blue Soul Fire;
- stronger contact damage;
- reduced light level compared with the normal Brazier;
- repels Piglins while lit.
- Added crafting recipes for both variants.
- The ordinary Brazier uses a Coal Block while the Soul variant uses Soul Soil.
Boss & Combat Presentation
