What's new

1.0.0 (2026-09-16) — First release

File: mememod-1.0.0.jar · Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge 47+

1. New mobs (14 meme creatures, all with spawn eggs and natural spawning)

  1. Added Sun Xiaochuan (village rooftops / near the internet café). Logic: he never fights back — his attack target is permanently forced to empty. Hitting him marks you with Public Anger, after which his fan club swarms you, and once the fight is over some of them may turn on him instead.
  2. Added Lao Da (basketball courts / gyms, also the Nether). Logic: elbow strikes that launch you, fadeaway basketball shots, and a "Mamba Moment" rage when low on health. Throw your ball at him and he holds it a while before passing it back; if it lands on the ground he walks over and picks it up.
  3. Added Niulai (plains / grasslands). Logic: announces himself server-wide; yells "MAMA!" when hurt; converts nearby vanilla cows into an enraged herd that headbutts whoever hit him (3 damage each, all lowing for him), and digs up 3–6 cows if there are none nearby. The herd stops the moment Niulai dies. He gets dizzy after a charge.
  4. Added Keycap Cat (villages). Logic: hisses at everything and hisses back at its own kind; when stomped it flattens into a cat pancake that can be re-inflated with a right click; it is itself afraid of vanilla cats.
  5. Added Old Cat (old houses / ruins). Logic: disguises himself as a motionless old man, then opens up with a paw-punch flurry when you come close; the lower his health, the faster he swings; spits flying dentures.
  6. Added Dingzhen (mountains / snowy mountains). Logic: appraises any item; climbs onto horses and rides around; stares at any cat within 12 blocks.
  7. Added Stun Baton Guy (internet cafés / taverns). Logic: his attacks apply Paralysis; runs away shouting when badly hurt.
  8. Added bvvd (any biome, rare). Logic: his arrival broadcasts a fake "patch notes" entry server-wide and randomly buffs or nerfs everyone; you can tip him.
  9. Added Jiege (villages / gyms). Logic: right-click for a Health Report; runs to rescue low-health players; jogs around the village faster than a normal villager.
  10. Added Awei (villages — exactly one per world). Logic: three hearts, dies with a server-wide announcement, then respawns on the spot later. Feed him bread to tame him — afterwards he follows you, or works the plot you assign him: farming, harvesting, fishing (an actual fishing rod appears in his hand), picking up dropped weapons, hiding indoors the instant he is hurt, and fighting zombies/skeletons/spiders. Right-click empty-handed to open Awei's bag (he eats from it first, and its contents are shown in his hands).
  11. Added Huaqiang (village markets / melon patches). Logic: stages the famous "is your melon ripe?" standoff with Haoge and flips the stall when it goes wrong; carries a Watermelon Knife.
  12. Added Haoge (village markets / melon stalls). Logic: trades melons and cake for emeralds; defends his stall if you smash produce; takes part in the melon standoff; follows players who are holding emeralds.
  13. Added Russian Streamer (snowy biomes / villages). Logic: hoovers up nearby dropped items with a "nom nom"; kill him and he spits everything back out; whistles to summon silverfish; vodka puts him in a Tipsy state.
  14. Added Olga (village streets / roads). Logic: never stops walking, never turns back, and leads you to villages; has a death scene.

2. New boss: the Muscle Poop Demon

  1. Added the Muscle Poop Demon. Logic: when 20 poops pile up in one place (4 blocks by default) they coalesce into a 3-block-tall boss with 200 HP, 8 armour and knockback immunity, announced server-wide with black smoke everywhere. It is permanently stinky, and only attacks creatures that are not stinky (which is why its own kind never fight each other). It has a Zangief-style piledriver: grab the victim, rocket into the sky together, slam down into the ground (without taking fall damage itself). On death it bursts into a pile of "inert poop".
  2. Added anti-recursion guards: the poop it bursts into, and any poop spawned while a demon is already nearby, can never coalesce again, and the whole dimension goes on cooldown after a merge (30 seconds by default) so it cannot farm itself.

3. New blocks

  1. Added the Toilet and Golden Toilet. Logic: right-click to sit down (vanilla sitting pose); right-click while seated to push a poop into the bowl — doing it in a toilet never stinks up the surroundings; Shift + right-click to flush; leave 4 unflushed and the toilet starts driving nearby creatures away; breaking the toilet safely dismounts whoever is sitting on it; only one creature per toilet.
  2. The toilet draws the unflushed poops sitting in its bowl (stacked one on top of another), and its whole size (hitbox + model + bowl contents + seat height) is controlled by one knob, toilet.sizeScale, scaled to 1.3 by default.

4. New systems

  1. Urgency meter (players): an on-screen "can't hold it" bar filled by time and by shift-sneaking. When it maxes out you get a warning, then you go right where you stand; afterwards you carry Stench for 5 minutes and nearby creatures flee.
  2. Mob satiety: every living thing has a satiety value that only drops when it poops (four poops empties it by default). A hungry creature eats food on the ground, ripe roadside berries, fully grown crops and cake (the cake really loses slices). Starving too long deals damage; below half health it hunts and eats other creatures; with a 10% chance it will eat poop (which stinks it up in return). A hungry creature stops what it is doing to go eat. Right-click it with any food to fill it up.
  3. Poop ecology: poops can be stepped on and smashed; left alone they decompose on their own — bone-mealing nearby crops, turning bare dirt back into grass and sprouting a few grass tufts.
  4. Bucket bathing: right-click any stinky living thing with a water bucket to wash it off (the bucket empties). Villagers remember the favour and drop their prices; hostile mobs won't target you for a while and may even defend you.
  5. Size system (magic beans): four beans (grow ×2 / ×5, shrink ×0.5 / ×0.2, five minutes each). This is a real size change: hitbox, eye height, max health, movement speed and step height all scale together (grow and you walk up low blocks; super beans let you step a full 3 blocks), and growing into a wall un-sticks you automatically. Your voice scales too — bigger is deeper and gruffer, smaller is higher and squeakier. Shrinking clamps current health to the new maximum.
  6. Siberian Whirl Soup / Super Laxative Borscht: eating one spirals you up into the sky (~20 blocks) and you take normal fall damage on the way down; the borscht additionally sprays 7 flying poops outwards while you fly.
  7. Toilet rush: when more creatures in an area are due than there are free toilets, they race for them; the first to sit wins, and the winner plays its own ambient sound.
  8. Voice-line system: meme mobs talk through speech bubbles above their heads (no chat spam) and only server-wide announcements go to chat. Lines are data (data/mememod/quotes/*.json, split into greet / hurt / death / trade / work / flee channels), so /reload is enough to add a new meme or your own lines. Bubble height is computed from the mob's size so it never clips into the model.

5. New items / effects / recipes

  1. New items: Laxative / Super Laxative / Super Jet Laxative (each with a throwable potion version), Poop Wand, Firecracker, Basketball, 4 magic beans, Siberian Whirl Soup, Super Laxative Borscht, Watermelon Knife / Stun Baton / Internet Fee / Health Report / Vodka / Unripe Melon / Dentures, plus 15 spawn eggs (the demon's is a hand-drawn custom texture).
  2. New status effects (7): Stench / Hungry / Giant / Shrunk / Public Anger / Paralysis / Tipsy.
  3. New recipes — all on the vanilla crafting table and brewing stand, with recipe-book unlocks: Laxative = 2× grass/fern + glass bottle; Super Laxative = 2× laxative; Super Jet Laxative = laxative + blaze powder; throwable potions = the matching laxative + gunpowder; Basketball = 4 leather chestplates in a diamond; Firecracker = 1 gunpowder; Toilet = 3 terracotta in a T shape (gold ingots for the golden one); Whirl Soup = feather + echo shard + bowl; Borscht = whirl soup + any laxative; Magic Bean = cocoa bean in the middle with 8 of any seed around it, and the super/reverse/super-reverse versions are brewed with gunpowder or a chorus fruit.

6. Changed logic (vanilla mobs)

  1. Every living entity now has satiety and eating behaviour (see #20), except poops and the demon — a poop never gets hungry and will never wander off to eat the magic bean you dropped.
  2. Creatures fed a laxative now look for a toilet: they walk to a free one within 24 blocks, sit down, poop into the bowl and get off. If there is none, or they are all taken, they go on the ground exactly as before. With Super Jet Laxative they hold for 3 seconds and then fire 7 flying poops out of their back.
  3. Two creatures going for the same toilet now elbow each other, and the loser — including whoever is already seated — is launched off it.
  4. Villager behaviour changed: ① farmer villagers pick up nearby poops and carry them to a composter (a full composter is harvested into bonemeal), turn vegetables from their inventory into bread, hand bread to nearby hungry creatures (feeding it to an iron golem makes the golem offer a flower), and throw food at players who come close; ② farmers are immune to the stench scare (otherwise they could not work) but still flee the demon; ③ regular villagers and iron golems flee from a stinky player; ④ villagers eat out of their own inventory; ⑤ feeding them, or bathing them with a bucket, grants a good deed through vanilla's gossip system, making their trades cheaper.
  5. Cow behaviour changed: when Niulai appears, nearby vanilla cows become an enraged herd (custom goal, chase the target, 3 damage per headbutt, all lowing for him) — and the herd stops the instant Niulai dies.
  6. The lawful crowd (iron golems / snow golems / vindicators / pillagers / evokers / illusioners / witches / ravagers) are, inside the demon's aura, assigned it as a target and charge in; everything else — including the fearless farmers — is scared off.
  7. Hostile mobs whose stench has been washed off with a bucket won't target you for a while, and may step in to defend you when something attacks you.
  8. Cats: the Keycap Cat avoids vanilla cats; Dingzhen stares at them. (This version does not turn vanilla cats into Keycap Cats.)
  9. Every mob that eats a magic bean now gets its hitbox and voice pitch scaled along with its model (see #23).
  10. Players gained: the urgency HUD, sitting / pushing / flushing on toilets, step height from magic beans, automatic un-sticking when growing into a wall, bucket bathing, right-click feeding, and Awei's bag.
  11. The following vanilla logic is untouched: no vanilla AI is replaced; vanilla loot tables and spawn tables are not overwritten (the mod only adds its own mobs on top of vanilla spawning); right-clicking a cow with wheat still breeds it (feeding only fires when the creature is hungry or you are holding a magic bean / soup); vanilla trades are unchanged — cheaper prices come purely from vanilla's own gossip mechanic.

7. Compatibility and requirements (read before installing)

  1. Requires Minecraft 1.20.1 + Forge 47.0.0 or newer; developed and verified against Forge 47.4.23. Forge versions below 47 cannot load it.
  2. GeckoLib does not need to be installed separately — GeckoLib 4.8.4 is bundled inside the jar via Forge's jar-in-jar. Please do not also drop another GeckoLib version into mods/: mismatched versions cause missing models or a crash during loading.
  3. Install on both client and server (the mod has server-side mob logic and client-side models / HUD / speech bubbles). Installing on only one side will be refused by Forge on connect.
  4. The mod does not replace vanilla AI — every vanilla-mob behaviour change is bolted on top (vanilla mobs cannot receive custom AI goals, so the mod ticks them instead). Because of that it does not conflict with mods that only add content; however, if you also run a mod that rewrites vanilla cow / villager / iron golem AI or loot tables, you may see target-fighting or duplicated drops — switch one of the two off in its config.
  5. All of the mod's voice lines, recipes, spawn placements and trade tables are datapack JSON and reload with /reload; server owners can override them without touching the jar.
  6. Every mechanic is individually toggleable in config/mememod-common.toml (135 options, grouped into quotes / broadcasts / spawning / poop / toilet / villagers / hunger / size / demon and more). The file is generated on first launch; deleting it restores the defaults.

8. Known issues and notes

  1. Mob models and animations are hand-tuned and a few camera angles are still being polished; the purely visual parts (bubbles, scaling, voice pitch) cannot be verified on a headless server — you need to look at them in game.
  2. Many systems are bolted on rather than goal-based, so in extreme scenes with hundreds of mobs it costs a little more than pure vanilla. If it gets heavy, turn off hunger, farmerWork or shitDemonAura.
  3. The demon only attacks creatures that are not stinky, so giving yourself Stench lets you walk past it safely. That is the design, not a bug.
  4. The toilet's base surface is 0.65 blocks high (vanilla auto step-up is 0.6), so stepping onto a toilet now takes a small jump; set toilet.sizeScale to about 1.2 to get "walk straight up" back.
  5. The mod's voice clips are excerpts from publicly circulating meme videos, used for a non-commercial fan project. If any rights holder objects, the relevant assets will be removed in a later version. Please do not use this mod commercially.
