What's new

WorldLink 0.1.3

WorldLink 0.1.3 is a major portal and travel-system update focused on making travel between independent Minecraft worlds feel like one connected experience.

Added

  • Added full remote-server portal travel.

  • Added support for connecting directly from a local world to a configured dedicated server.

  • Added GUI-based portal destination configuration.

  • Added automatic discovery of local Minecraft saves.

  • Added support for two-way travel between local worlds and remote servers.

  • Added remote transition locking to prevent duplicate portal activations while Minecraft is changing connections.

  • Added client world stabilization after arriving at a destination.

  • Added arrival protection and portal rearming logic.

  • Added portal exit detection so players do not immediately bounce back through the portal after arriving.

  • Added creative-mode instant portal travel.

  • Added Nether-portal-style ambient sound.

  • Added green portal particles and entry effects.

  • Added animated custom portal rendering.

  • Added support for 16-frame portal animation textures.

Portal Improvements

  • Portal interior is now 2 blocks wide by 3 blocks tall.

  • Standard portal frame is 4 blocks wide by 5 blocks tall.

  • Frame corners are optional.

  • Portals can be built in either horizontal orientation.

  • Portal orientation detection has been improved.

  • Breaking a required frame block now collapses the entire portal.

  • Breaking a portal block collapses the complete portal structure.

  • Optional corner blocks can be removed without destroying the portal.

  • Portal collapse now uses an appropriate glass-breaking effect.

  • Portal detection has been adjusted to better match the physical portal opening.

Visual Improvements

  • Added a new animated green vortex portal texture.

  • Increased portal animation smoothness.

  • Improved portal opacity and blending.

  • Added multiple visual layers for a deeper Nether-portal-style appearance.

  • Corrected portal texture rotation and orientation issues.

  • Removed visible seams and unwanted bright edge lines.

  • Improved portal animation positioning so the vortex remains centered.

Travel Improvements

  • Improved local-world switching using Minecraft's own world-opening flow.

  • Reduced transition flickering and duplicate disconnect behavior.

  • Improved integrated-server shutdown handling during world changes.

  • Added remote-server connection support using Minecraft's normal multiplayer connection flow.

  • Improved transition state tracking between local and remote destinations.

  • Added destination-world stabilization before WorldLink considers travel complete.

  • Added protection against immediate portal retriggering after arrival.

  • Improved two-way remote portal travel behavior.

Diagnostics and Stability

  • Added client resource-reload diagnostics for the WorldLink portal texture.

  • Added validation for portal texture dimensions and frame count.

  • Verified the 256×4096 portal texture loads correctly as 16 individual 256×256 frames.

  • Improved WorldLink logging for portal activation, destination selection, transitions, connection state, and arrival handling.

  • Improved dedicated-server compatibility by keeping client-only rendering code isolated from server execution.

Tested

WorldLink 0.1.3 has been tested with:

  • Minecraft 1.20.1

  • Forge 47.4.x

  • Local integrated worlds

  • Dedicated Forge servers

  • Large modded environments

  • Local → Local travel

  • Local → Remote Server travel

  • Remote arrival and portal rearming

  • Two-way portal travel

Notes

WorldLink connects separate Minecraft worlds and servers through in-game portals. Player inventories and world-specific data remain controlled by the destination world rather than being directly transferred between independent saves or servers.

This release represents a major foundation update for future WorldLink destinations, portal customization, and cross-world travel features.
