About the different JAR files,
you have two choices for each version of the mod a mod.jar and a mod-all.jar
the second one is what you get by default, it includes the mod, and database drivers.
if you run into compatibility issues with another mod that includes database drivers or you want to include the driver jar yourself use the mod.jar version, it is just the mod, no database drivers
