# TreeFeller
Break one tree log with an axe or an empty main hand to remove the connected tree logs and natural canopy together. Gather wood without chopping every branch separately.
## What it does
- Finds connected logs, including sideways branches and diagonally touching logs.
- Removes the detected natural leaves during the same server operation, without a separate breaking sequence for each extra block.
- Works with axes and an empty main hand. Pickaxes, shovels, shears, swords, held blocks, and other non-axe items do not activate it.
- Keeps stone, planks, decorative persistent leaves, and other non-tree blocks intact.
- Uses normal block loot. The first block follows ordinary mining time and tool-durability rules; Creative mode produces no drops.
There are no commands, settings, key bindings, added items, or additional gameplay features.
## Install and use
1. Install Fabric Loader 0.19.5 or newer for your Minecraft Java version.
2. Put the matching TreeFeller JAR in that instance's `mods` folder. Replace any older TreeFeller JAR instead of installing duplicates.
3. Restart Minecraft, enter a world, and break a tree log with an axe or an empty main hand.
Fabric API is not required. Use Java 21 for 1.21.x and Java 25 for 26.x. Forge and NeoForge are not supported.
For singleplayer, install in the client instance. For multiplayer, install on the Fabric server; connecting clients do not need TreeFeller. A client-only installation cannot change an unmodded remote server.
## Minecraft versions
1.21.8, 1.21.9, 1.21.10, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2, and 26.3. Select the JAR for the exact game version. This is Version 1, with metadata version 1.0.0.
## Tree boundaries
Natural leaf states identify a tree. Bare log structures do not trigger felling. Touching logs are treated as one tree, including constructed logs physically connected to it: Minecraft does not store a log's origin. Roots, vines, fruit, bee nests, and other non-log/non-leaf blocks remain. Nether fungi do not have the required leaf canopy. The scan uses loaded chunks and stops additional felling at an unloaded boundary or above 65,536 collected blocks. Third-party protection systems are not certified.
## Validation
Each of the nine release JARs passed 46 automated server-world assertions before and after a full server restart with Fabric Loader 0.19.5 and Anti Hopper Lag v1. This is evidence for that tested combination, not a general conflict-free guarantee. Manual client GUI and Mod Menu screen tests are not claimed.
