Wildgraft
Plants are data. Every seed, cutting, and grown plant carries a 16-character genome, and what you harvest next depends on what you cross today. Read genomes with a field microscope, log what you learn in the genome journal, and breed at the arbor loom until you get something worth keeping. Then defend it, because the blight spreads through soil, crops, flowers, and leaves.
What it adds
- Genetics: Eight loci with three tiers each. Dominance decides what you see, breeding decides what you get, and the Strangeness locus raises mutation chance.
- Grafting: Take cuttings from vanilla plants, build a nursery bed, cross them in the arbor loom, and grow the results on nutrient soil.
- Living architecture: Living planks slowly fill gaps near root networks, and bloom lamps brighten as nearby plants mature.
- Creatures: Tame a rootling to harvest ripe plants for you, follow pollen wisps through the forest, and avoid blightlings unless you want them.
- The blight: It spreads across your farm. Clear it with sterile ash, or lure blightlings away.
- Heartwood groves: Rare forest structures where the Progenitor waits. It heals in phase one and seeds blight in phase two.
- Endgame: The Evergraft tends the soil and crops in its radius on its own.
Getting started
- Break a wild graftling for rootstock and craft a pruning knife.
- Tap a heartwood log for sap and build a nursery bed.
- Read genomes with the microscope and cross cuttings at the arbor loom.
Configuration: Mutation chance, growth speed, blight spread and radius, living-plank reach, and creature behavior are all tunable in wildgraft-common.toml.
