What's new
Web Swinger 1.0.0-beta.4
New Features
Web Shooters & Cartridges
- Web Shooters needs web cartridges: every web that doesn't miss costs one web from the cartridge.
- Web Cartridge item: craft an empty one, fill it with 3 string, right-click it to reload your shooters (or let it auto fill).
- Web Shooters and Web Cartridges now have crafting recipes.
- Shooter charge shows as a durability bar on the item.
- Firing with an empty pair auto-reloads from a carried cartridge (client option, on by default).
- New server options: cartridge size, and turning web ammo off entirely.
- New HUD in the bottom-right corner: web charge, spare cartridges, wall-climb state and shot mode.
Suits & Sewing Machine
- Sewing Machine: make, restyle and repair suits in one screen, with a rotating mirror preview of the selected style.
- Suits are now one set of armor that takes on whatever style you pick, instead of a separate set per suit.
- New suits: Scarlet Spider, Scarlet Spider II, Homemade and Iron Spider.
- The Sewing Machine has its own block and recipe, and is mined with a pickaxe.
- The Amazing suit texture has been improved a bit.
Symbiote
- Symbiotes are now creatures that spawn on sculk in the Deep Dark.
- A symbiote tries to bond with the player.
- Sneaking keeps a symbiote from noticing you (kinda like the Warden)
- A bonded symbiote stays dormant until you sleep, then you wake somewhere far away and high up, hungry, already wearing it.
- The symbiote takes over over several in-game days: at first you control it, later it switches itself on and refuses beds, and in the end it never lets go.
- The symbiote whispers to you, screeches when hurt, and refuses to do somethings.
- While wearing it it boosts speed, jump, damage, knockback and armour, and fires webs for free.
- Get it off by ringing a bell four times near you, with fire, or with a Warden's sonic boom.
- Dying drops your symbiote where you fell, unless fire killed you.
- Anti-Venom: once you have been freed from a symbiote late in the takeover, a lightning strike bonds you to Anti-Venom.
- Bonding, switching and removing the symbiote play out as goo spreading over the body pixel by pixel, with the screen darkening and shaking.
- New operator commands:
/ws symbiote bond | wake | remove | spawn | stage | traces.
Tricks & Movement
- New release tricks: Pike, Scissor, Stag, Side Roll, Gainer, Cork, Drill and a kick-off Exit Flip.
- New Streamline drift pose after a trick.
- Tricks can now come out into a dive, and looking down while falling pitches you into one.
- New Sprawl swing style.
- Flip count is now a random pick weighted by speed, so the same swing can go over once or three times.
- Wall running works in any direction across a wall, not just straight up.
- Tap sneak to let go of a wall; hold sneak to walk under a ceiling without sticking to it.
- The gargoyle perch now works on connected fences, walls, glass panes and iron bars.
- Optional first-person body camera that turns the view with the head through flips (off by default).
Visuals
- Other players now see your webs flying, not just the line once it lands.
- In first person, an arm with a web out is drawn and points at its web.
- Web shots scatter bits of web in the web's own colour where they hit.
Changes
- Spider strength is now a flat +6 damage instead of a 7x multiplier, so weapons and crits no longer get multiplied by it.
- Switching web type no longer posts a chat message; the HUD shows the mode, and the click only plays when something changed.
- A swing nobody pumps now actually slows to a stop.
- The camera no longer tilts with the swing lean while you are standing on the ground.
- Tricks are steered to land level instead of finishing tilted or sideways.
- Body rotation is one continuous motion, so a flip interrupted by a zip or a dive carries its turn through.
- Tricks now slow down smoothly at the end instead of speeding up and snapping to a stop.
Fixes
- Fixed flips stopping short and then creeping the rest of the way.
- Fixed interrupted flips and dives rewinding instead of finishing their turn.
- Fixed landings snapping the leftover body rotation at double the trick's speed.
- Fixed a dive that ran out of air playing backwards.
- Fixed releasing an inverted swing into a flip speeding up or stalling the spin depending on direction.
- Fixed the zip corkscrew leaving the body resting slightly off level.
- Fixed A/D being mirrored on ceilings, including after climbing up into one from a wall.
- Fixed feet sinking into the wall while wall running.
- Fixed suit pieces never losing durability, which also made repairs cost nothing.
Performance
- Webs that are off screen or beyond render distance are no longer drawn.
