WATERMeDIA: Binaries supplies the native media components used by WATERMeDIA 3. It packages FFmpeg libraries separately from the main API, allowing the library and its larger native payload to be maintained as separate downloads.
Install it alongside the matching WATERMeDIA version when a compatible mod needs FFmpeg video or audio playback. **This companion does not add screens, radios, items, recipes, or playback controls on its own.**
**Artwork disclosure:** The project icon is AI-generated branding artwork. Its hardware-module symbol represents native software components and is not an in-game block or item.
## What the companion does
- **Provides native decoding libraries:** The supplied JAR includes FFmpeg archives for Windows, Linux, and macOS, with additional ARM64 archives for Linux and macOS.
- **Prepares the appropriate libraries:** On a playback client, it selects the platform archive and extracts the native files for WATERMeDIA to use.
- **Supports the main library:** WATERMeDIA and the mod integrating it handle media loading, playback, rendering, controls, and any shared viewing behavior.
The presence of a platform archive does not guarantee compatibility with every operating-system release, processor, driver, codec, or media source.
## Installation and dependencies
1. Install the mod that provides your media feature.
2. Install the WATERMeDIA version that mod requires.
3. Place the matching Binaries JAR in the playback client's `mods` folder, using files compatible with its Minecraft version and loader.
**Binaries 3.0.0.6 declares WATERMeDIA 3.0.0.22 or newer as a required dependency.** The supplied workspace pairs it with **WATERMeDIA 3.0.0.23** for **Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 with NeoForge**. The metadata's minimum version is not a guarantee of compatibility with all future WATERMeDIA releases.
The [3.0.0.6 file listing](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/watermedia-binaries/files/8519058) also lists Minecraft **1.18.2, 1.19.2, 1.20.1, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, and 26.2**, with **Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge** loader tags. Select a valid game-and-loader combination supported by the integrating mod.
The JAR declares Java 17 or newer, and Fabric metadata specifies Fabric Loader 0.14 or newer. Your Minecraft version may require a newer Java runtime; Minecraft 1.21.1 uses Java 21.
## Multiplayer and configuration
Each player who needs native media playback installs the companion locally. It does not create a synchronized viewing session by itself. The supplied build skips native extraction in a server-side environment; follow the integrating mod's server requirements.
For the supplied Afterfall setup, the server does not need either media dependency, while playback clients use both. Afterfall supplies the actual TV and radio features.
Media and decoder tuning is handled through WATERMeDIA's configuration. This companion has no separate gameplay configuration menu. Some online-source helpers may be downloaded when needed, so the bundled FFmpeg archives do not make every online service available offline.
## Development status
**Binaries 3.0.0.6 is listed as a Release on CurseForge**, although its changelog labels the build RC. Its paired **WATERMeDIA 3.0.0.23 is Beta**. Use the versions specified by the integrating mod and keep their compatibility requirements together.
This description covers the supplied native package. It does not promise new gameplay, universal source support, or compatibility with WATERMeDIA 2 integrations.
## Credits and support
Created by **SrRapero720 / WaterMedia Team**, using **FFmpeg** and other bundled components credited in the JAR's license notices. The supplied mod metadata identifies **PolyForm Strict License 1.0.0**; bundled components retain their respective licenses.
