Description
# Wanderer's Rift
A dimension-travel mod built around a dedicated artifact slot and an in-game portal menu (Ctrl+M). Place the Path Shard in your artifact slot to unlock travel between custom worlds. Currently one world is available — the Icy Depths — with more planned for future updates.
## The Path Shard
The Path Shard is your key to other worlds. It cannot be crafted — it is earned by surviving a genuine brush with death. If you take damage that leaves you at half a heart or a full heart, the Path Shard will appear in your inventory (once per world, permanently). A custom advancement marks the moment.
## The Icy Depths — "Eternal Eclipse"
A dark, frozen dimension where the sun never truly lights the world. Features:
- A full custom resource chain: mine Frost Crystal Ore, smelt Raw Frost Crystal into Ingots, craft a full set of ice-themed tools and weapons
- Custom hostile mobs with unique behaviors, including a flying enemy and a swarm-caller
- Rime Hall — a generated dungeon structure with a sealed boss arena and a locked loot vault that only opens after victory
- A boss fight with real mechanics, not a stat check (see below)
- Flint — a wounded survivor you can help, who becomes an AI-controlled combat ally and eventually leads you to one of several procedurally generated survivor villages
- Crest villages — unique settlements built into frozen, collapsing waves, with their own trading economy and reputation system
## How to Fight the Boss — read this before you go in
The boss (Floe Sovereign) is NOT a normal damage race. For most of the fight, his body is completely invulnerable — hitting him anywhere does nothing. You can only deal real damage to the glowing core on his chest, and only during two specific windows:
1. **While his scythe is on the ground.** He throws it at you (or at your ally, if you brought Flint) periodically. While he's unarmed and retrieving it, his core is open.
2. **While he channels and fires his ice cannon.** Watch for the aiming telegraph — that's your second window to strike the core.
Outside these windows, save your swings — they won't register. Once his health crosses roughly half, he loses access to his scythe permanently if it was knocked into an ally, and gains a different melee attack in its place. If you bring Flint along, the boss's first scythe throw in the fight is aimed at him specifically — losing your ally early is a real risk, not just flavor.
There is no way to skip the fight or the mechanic — going in expecting a normal tank-and-spank encounter will end badly. Watch the boss's hands and animation states, not just the health bar.
## What's ahead
This mod is actively developed. More worlds, more content, and expanded systems are planned for future updates.
