# Wake The Wild License 1.0
Version 1.0 — effective 28 September 2026
SPDX-style identifier: `LicenseRef-Wake-The-Wild-1.0`
Copyright © 2026 Wake The Wild. All rights reserved except as expressly
granted by this License. Wake The Wild is the publishing identity of its
owner.
## 1. Definitions and ownership
“WTW” means Wake The Wild, the independent publishing identity under which the
copyright owner releases the Covered Work. “Covered Work” means any project,
file, release, code, or asset that expressly identifies this License as its
governing license. “Official Source” means a distribution page or repository
operated by WTW or identified as official at the canonical location in Section
16.
The Covered Work remains owned by its applicable copyright owner and is not
sold or transferred under this License. Names, logos, icons, trade dress, and
other WTW branding are reserved and are not licensed except for accurate,
nominative references expressly allowed below.
Materials identified as third-party content or as governed by another license
remain subject to their own terms. Documentation, examples, public API
components, or other files may be distributed under separate licenses stated
with those materials. In particular, WTW documentation and examples may use
the MIT License, and a public WTW API may use the Apache License 2.0. Those
separate licenses do not grant rights to WTW branding or to other parts of a
Covered Work.
## 2. Personal use and gameplay
You may download, install, and use an unmodified official copy of the Covered
Work for personal gameplay on clients and on private or public servers. You may
make reasonable private backup copies.
You may create private, non-distributed replacements or adjustments for visual
or audio assets for your own use, including accessibility adjustments. This
permission does not allow publishing, sharing, or distributing WTW assets or
modified versions of them.
## 3. Servers and monetization
Private and public servers may use an unmodified official copy of the Covered
Work, including servers that receive revenue, provided that:
1. access to the Covered Work or its features is not sold separately;
2. the Covered Work is not represented as a premium product of the server;
3. all players receive equal access to the Covered Work’s gameplay features;
4. the Covered Work is not used to create pay-to-win benefits;
5. the server does not claim ownership of, endorsement by, or an official
partnership with WTW; and
6. the server complies with the current Minecraft Usage Guidelines and all
applicable laws.
Use of the Covered Work in a corporate brand activation, unrelated commercial
promotion, or sponsored campaign requires prior written permission from WTW.
## 4. Modpacks
You may include an unmodified official JAR of the Covered Work in private or
public modpacks, or reference its Official Source through a modpack manifest,
without requesting prior permission, provided that the modpack:
1. identifies the Covered Work by its correct name;
2. credits “Wake The Wild (WTW)”;
3. links to an Official Source when the platform permits links;
4. preserves this License and all notices contained in the JAR;
5. does not claim that the Covered Work belongs to the modpack author; and
6. does not contain malware, unlawful material, deceptive content, hate or
extremist content, pornography, gambling functionality, or blockchain or
NFT integrations.
A free-to-download modpack may receive ordinary advertising revenue, platform
creator rewards, or similar revenue from Modrinth, CurseForge, or another
established distribution platform. Direct sale of a modpack, paid access,
paywall distribution, or sponsorship centered on the modpack requires prior
written permission from WTW.
Private archival copies are permitted. An unmodified older JAR may remain in an
otherwise permitted modpack. Public standalone mirrors, download archives, and
reuploads are not permitted without prior written permission.

## 5. Add-ons and integrations
You may create and distribute independently authored add-ons, datapacks,
resource packs, compatibility layers, and integrations that use documented
interfaces or separately licensed public APIs. Your original work may use a
license of your choice, including a commercial license where permitted by the
license of the applicable API.
An add-on or integration must not copy, embed, extract, or redistribute WTW
code or assets; must not use WTW branding without written permission; and must
not imply that it is an official WTW release. It may accurately state that it
is “compatible with” or “an add-on for” a WTW project.
Public resource packs may supply independently created replacement assets but
may not contain original or modified WTW assets.
## 6. Media and fan works
You may publish screenshots, gameplay videos, streams, reviews, tutorials, and
fan art featuring the Covered Work, including monetized videos and streams,
provided that the content complies with applicable platform rules and the
Minecraft Usage Guidelines and does not imply WTW endorsement.
Credit is appreciated but not required for ordinary gameplay media. Credit is
required where this License specifically requires it, including permitted
modpack distribution.
## 7. Restrictions
Except as expressly permitted by this License, by a separate applicable
license, by prior written permission from WTW, or by non-waivable applicable
law, you may not:
1. copy, publish, disclose, or distribute source code of the Covered Work;
2. decompile, reverse engineer, or extract implementation code or assets;
3. copy or reuse WTW code, textures, sounds, models, banners, branding, or
other assets in another project;
4. distribute modified builds, patches containing WTW code, or public forks;
5. reupload, mirror, sublicense, rent, sell, or place the Covered Work behind a
paywall;
6. charge separately for the Covered Work or access to its features;
7. use WTW names, logos, icons, or branding on merchandise or commercial
products;
8. claim ownership of the Covered Work or present an unofficial release as
official, approved, sponsored, or endorsed by WTW; or
9. use the Covered Work in malware, unlawful activity, fraud, hate or extremist
content, pornography, gambling, blockchain products, or NFTs.
Nothing in this License restricts conduct that applicable law does not permit
the copyright owner to restrict.
## 8. Artificial intelligence and data mining reservation
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, no Covered Work, WTW code,
asset, documentation, or other WTW-owned material may be used to create or
expand a dataset, train or fine-tune a machine-learning or generative model,
create embeddings intended to reproduce or imitate the material, or develop an
AI system, without prior written permission from WTW.
WTW expressly reserves its rights for text and data mining, including for the
purposes of Article 4(3) of Directive (EU) 2019/790. This reservation does not
override mandatory exceptions that cannot lawfully be excluded.
## 9. Archived and discontinued projects
Marking a project as deprecated, archived, discontinued, inactive, unsupported,
or removed from an Official Source does not grant permission to fork, modify,
reupload, mirror, or redistribute it.
WTW may issue a separate written Community Maintenance Notice for a specific
project. Only such an explicit notice may authorize community maintenance, and
the permission is limited to the scope, recipients, project, version, and terms
stated in that notice.
## 10. Branding
“Wake The Wild,” “WTW,” project names, logos, icons, and associated branding
remain reserved. Accurate compatibility references are allowed when reasonably
necessary to identify the relevant project. No use may suggest ownership,
endorsement, sponsorship, affiliation, or official status.
Merchandise or other commercial use of WTW branding requires prior written
permission. WTW may grant separate collaboration or merchandise permissions in
writing.
## 11. Compliance, termination, and cure
This License terminates for a recipient who violates its terms. For an ordinary
curable violation, WTW may provide written notice describing the violation. The
recipient has fourteen calendar days after receipt to stop the violation,
remove unauthorized material, and provide reasonable evidence of correction.
Malware, fraud, impersonation, intentional asset or code theft, sale or
paywalling of the Covered Work, deliberate reuploading, repeated violations, or
other serious or intentional violations may result in immediate termination
without a cure period.
Rights terminated under this section are restored only after written
confirmation from WTW. WTW will not unreasonably withhold confirmation after a
complete and timely cure. WTW may request removal of unauthorized copies and
use available platform, contractual, and legal enforcement procedures.
## 12. Separate permissions
WTW may grant separate permissions, collaboration terms, or alternative
commercial licenses in writing. A separate grant applies only to the recipient,
project, scope, purpose, duration, and conditions identified in that grant. It
does not alter this License for anyone else.
## 13. License versions and existing copies
Each release remains governed by the version of the Wake The Wild License
identified in that release. WTW may apply a newer or different license to future
releases, stop distributing a project, or offer future releases under different
terms.
Rights properly received for an existing copy are not withdrawn while the
recipient remains in compliance with the applicable license. A later license
version does not retroactively replace the license attached to an earlier
release.
## 14. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
THE COVERED WORK IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF
ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS
FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, COMPATIBILITY, OR AVAILABILITY, TO
THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE COPYRIGHT OWNER AND WTW
ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR
OTHER DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, WORLDS, SERVER AVAILABILITY, PROFITS, OR
GOODWILL, ARISING FROM THE COVERED WORK OR ITS USE. RIGHTS AND LIABILITIES THAT
CANNOT LAWFULLY BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED REMAIN UNAFFECTED.
## 15. General terms
Nothing in this License excludes, restricts, or overrides any right,
protection, obligation, remedy, or legal requirement that cannot lawfully be
excluded or modified.
If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in
effect to the greatest extent permitted by law. Failure to enforce a provision
on one occasion is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
## 16. License text and contact
Permission is granted to copy and distribute this License text verbatim solely
for attaching it to a Covered Work or preserving its notices. Modified versions
must not be called the “Wake The Wild License” or imply approval by WTW.
