What it adds
The Sandstorm itself — A global weather event that transforms the world:
- A thick, sandy-yellow fog shows
- Dense sand particles blast horizontally across the screen, driven by howling wind audio
- Hunger drains 7× faster while exposed to the storm, turning travel into a race against starvation
- Snow and ice are scoured away in a 32-block radius around every player — snow and powder snow vanish, snow blocks erode to dirt, and ice melts back into water
- An ominous "Wall Of Dust." title announces its arrival
Cave shelter mechanic — Caves, buildings, and any space without direct sky access become refuges. While sheltered:
- The accelerated hunger drain stops
- Fog and sand particles are suspended
- The wind sound dims to a muffled rumble (still audible, but far less oppressive)
The storm is still active — you just aren't in it. Surface to keep moving; dig down to survive.
New mob: Dryed Creeper
During a sandstorm, any creeper spawning at night under open sky is converted into a Dryed Creeper. It behaves like a normal creeper in every way — same AI, same fuse, same explosion radius — with one critical difference: its explosion does
no block damage. It still hurts you plenty, but your base stays intact.
New item: Eye of the Erg
Crafted with 4 sand in the top, bottom left, and right slots and ender eyes in the corners with a golden apple in the middle, the Eye of the Erg is your one-use reprieve. Right-click it to pause the sandstorm for 10 minutes — fog, particles, hunger drain, and creeper conversions all
halt. When the timer expires, the storm resumes automatically where it left off. The item is consumed on use, stacks to 16, and exists in the Tools creative tab. Stockpile them for long expeditions across open terrain.
Commands
A /sandstorm command is included for manually starting, stopping, or pausing the storm — useful for testing or for server operators who want finer control over when the world turns yellow.
