VoxelCam 2.3.0
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Screenshots now carry the context they were taken in, and the manager can sort and filter on it. Everything is written into the PNG itself, so it survives copying, renaming and sharing — there is no sidecar file to lose.
Requirements
- Minecraft 26.2
- Fabric Loader 0.19.3+, Fabric API
- Java 25, the runtime the Minecraft launcher already ships with (no launcher changes needed)
Where a screenshot was taken
Every new capture records its dimension and coordinates, and the name of the world or server it came from. The manager shows the location under the preview. The server's address is deliberately not recorded — a screenshot you share should not carry one.
Captures also record which mods were loaded, and the active Iris shader pack if there is one. Infrastructure is filtered out, so the tag reads as a line of text rather than a wall of Fabric API module ids.
Sorting and favourites
The manager sorts by date, name, file size or image dimensions, ascending or descending, from a button beside the search bar. Screenshots can be starred, and a filter narrows the list to just those. Starring writes into the PNG and restores the file's timestamp afterwards, so a favourite does not jump to the top of a newest-first list.
Older screenshots
Screenshots taken before 2.3.0 — or by vanilla F2, or another mod — have no embedded context.
They still list, sort by date, name and size, preview and share exactly as before; only the location
line and the provenance tag are missing, and they can still be starred.
Elsewhere
The camera button is now on the pause menu as well as the title screen, in the same row of icon buttons.
Fixes
Twenty-three fixes closed alongside the features, all of them found by an audit of the 2.2.0 code rather than reported in play.
The ones most likely to have affected you: a failed screenshot save no longer leaves a truncated
.png behind; a rename or delete the filesystem refuses now says so instead of appearing to work; a
screenshot can be renamed to a different capitalisation; the rename dialog keeps keyboard focus when
opened with the keyboard; and the manager's selection follows a file across a rename rather than
jumping to the top of the list.
Oversized capture is sturdier under failure — a readback that fails or stalls can no longer restore
the window while the GPU is still reading from it. Non-English systems are handled properly
throughout: capture names always use ASCII digits and the ISO year, and /bigscreenshot imax is
accepted whatever your system locale does to capital letters.
The manager also got materially cheaper. Full-size previews are now capped rather than accumulating for every screenshot you look at, file facts are cached instead of being re-read from disk for every visible row on every frame, and the sort no longer re-reads each file once per comparison.
