Volcanic
Volcanic is a modern Vulkan rendering engine for Minecraft NeoForge, developed as a fork of VulkanMod and redesigned to provide greater compatibility, better performance, and a graphics platform built for the future.
The goal of Volcanic is not just to increase FPS. It is designed to become a rendering solution that works seamlessly with as many mods, resource packs, and future graphics technologies as possible, while remaining easy to install and use.
Volcanic is specifically built to continuously improve compatibility with the most popular Minecraft mods, including Create and its ecosystem of addons, as well as many other mods that rely on advanced rendering features.
The same philosophy applies to resource packs. Volcanic natively supports CIT and CTM, allowing an ever growing number of resource packs to work without requiring additional compatibility mods.
Features
- High performance Vulkan renderer
- Built as a NeoForge fork of VulkanMod
- Native support for CIT and CTM resource pack features
- Designed for maximum compatibility with major mods such as Create and its addons
- Built in shader included
- Modernized rendering pipeline
- Architecture designed for future graphics technologies and features
Installation
Volcanic already includes several features that would normally require additional mods.
Do not install the following mods alongside Volcanic:
- Sodium Core Shader
- CIT
- CTM
These features are already built into Volcanic. Installing them separately is unnecessary and may lead to conflicts or unexpected behavior.
Built in Shader
Volcanic ships with a built in shader, providing an enhanced visual experience right out of the box.
Please note that this shader is still under active development and does not represent its final quality or feature set. It will continue to receive visual improvements, optimizations, and new rendering features over time.
In the future, the shader system will become fully extensible, allowing creators to develop, share, and distribute their own shaders specifically for Volcanic.
Wiki
An official wiki is currently under construction.
It will include:
- Installation guides
- Mod compatibility documentation
- Resource pack compatibility
- Shader documentation
- Developer documentation
- Frequently Asked Questions
- Performance tuning guides
Early Alpha
Volcanic is currently in Early Alpha.
The project is under active development, and many systems are still evolving. Bugs, missing features, and breaking changes should be expected between releases.
The rendering engine, built in shader, mod compatibility, and resource pack support will continue to improve with every update.
Our long term vision is to make Volcanic a modern graphics platform for Minecraft, delivering excellent performance, broad compatibility with mods and resource packs, and a fully extensible shader ecosystem.
Thank you for supporting Volcanic during its early development.
Credits
Volcanic is built upon the work of several open-source projects and would not exist without their contributions.
VulkanMod
Volcanic ultimately traces its roots back to VulkanMod, the original Vulkan renderer for Minecraft created by XCollateral. Their work laid the foundation for bringing Vulkan rendering to Minecraft.
