Void Survival
One block. One endless void. A random item every 5 seconds. Last player standing wins.
Void Survival is a fast, chaotic minigame for Fabric servers. Every player is dropped onto their own single block high above an empty void. When the countdown ends the items start flying in: build a bridge, grab a bow, hurl a fireball, or knock your opponent off their block. Fall into the void and you're out. Rounds keep looping until an operator stops the match.
Server-side only. Players don't need to install anything, and plain vanilla 26.3 clients can join and play. No client mod, no resource pack.
Quick start
- Put the Void Survival jar and Fabric API in your server's
modsfolder and start the server. - Have at least two players online. Players can queue with
/voidjoin, or skip that step and let the operator take everyone online. - An operator runs
/voidstartand the first round begins.
Playing alone? Create a world with cheats on and run /voidpractice to try the arena, the items and the gadgets by yourself. Rounds last until you fall, and your best survival time is tracked.
How a round works
- Every player stands on their own grass block at Y=100, spaced out across the void arena, frozen for a 10-second countdown.
- When the round starts you get a random item, then another one every 5 seconds.
- Fall into the void and you're eliminated. The last player alive wins the round.
- If the last players fall at the same instant, the round is a draw, never a false win.
- After a short break the next round starts with everyone on a fresh block and an empty inventory.
Features
Loot
- Random items from the whole game. Drops come from roughly 1,600 items. Potions get random effects and enchanted books get random enchantments.
- A guaranteed item every 5th item, picked from curated lists: food, weapons, armor, blocks, utility and potions. Think bread, a diamond sword, a trident, a water bucket, an ender pearl, a potion of slow falling, or a throwable fireball.
- More building blocks. Building blocks drop more often than other items, so you always have something to bridge with.
- Items that come together. TNT comes with flint and steel, and a bow comes with 4 arrows.
Rewards
- OP bonus rounds. Every 5th round everyone also receives a powerful reward: enchanted weapons and armor, elytra kits, ender pearls, totems and more.
- Win streaks. Win two rounds in a row and you get a special reward at the start of your next round.
Chaos
- Night rounds. Each round has a 25% chance of being played at night. The arena has its own day/night clock, so your overworld's time is never touched.
- Random mobs can appear on your platform during a round: zombies, skeletons, creepers, spiders and more, plus a few harmless ones. They are removed when the round ends.
- Your block is protected. You can't mine the block you spawned on. Every other block, including your opponents' spawn blocks, is fair game.
Gadgets
Rare, exciting items with their own names and descriptions. They drop at random, show up in bonus and streak rewards, and the fireball is also a guaranteed item.
- Fireball: right-click to hurl an exploding fireball that knocks players off their blocks.
- TNT Launcher: a bow that shoots primed TNT instead of arrows.
- Duplicator Pickaxe: every block you mine drops twice.
- Bridge Egg: throw it and a wool bridge builds itself along its flight.
- Leap Feather: right-click to leap in the direction you look.
- Thunder Rod: right-click and lightning strikes where you look.
- Platform Crystal: right-click and a 3x3 glass platform appears under your feet, even in mid-air.
Gadgets are normal vanilla items with custom names and descriptions, so they work for every player without any client-side files. They only work for living players during a live round.
Commands
/voidstart [players](operators): start a match with the named players, the queue, or everyone online./voidpractice(operators): start solo practice for yourself./voidstop(operators): stop the match, restore everyone and reset the arena./voidstatus(everyone): round, timers, who is alive, wins and streaks./voidjoinand/voidleave(everyone): join or leave the queue or the match./voidskip(operators): skip the break between rounds./voidreload(operators): reload the config.
A match needs at least two players.
Safe for your players and your world
- Everyone's inventory, position, game mode, health, hunger, XP and effects are saved when they join a match and given back when they leave or the match stops.
- Every block changed during a round is put back, so the arena is always reset. Blocks outside the arena are never touched.
- If the server crashes mid-match, the arena is repaired and players get their belongings back the next time they log in.
- Players who disconnect mid-round are eliminated and come back as spectators.
- Rounds run on a single server timer, so rounds never overlap and winners are never announced or rewarded twice.
Configurable
Everything lives in config/voidsurvival.json, created on first start:
- Countdown, item interval and break length
- How often bonus rounds happen and how many wins make a streak
- The guaranteed items, the random item pool and its exclusions, and the reward pools
- Gadget drop chances and the building-block chance
- Mob types, weights and spawn rates
- Night chance
- What happens when a player's inventory is full (queue, drop, replace or discard)
- Arena position, size and spawn spacing, and more
Mistakes in the file are reported in the log, and a file that fails to parse never replaces your working settings. Use /voidreload to apply changes without a restart.
Requirements
- Minecraft 26.3
- Fabric Loader 0.19.5 or newer
- Fabric API
- Java 25
Installation
Put the Void Survival jar and Fabric API in your server's mods folder and start the server. Players don't need the mod. For singleplayer or LAN, install both in your own mods folder.
Good to know
- Hostile mobs are skipped on peaceful difficulty, because the game removes them immediately.
- If you update from an earlier version, delete
config/voidsurvival.jsonto get the newest default reward lists. Your existing file is kept as it is, apart from a one-time upgrade that changes the old 10-second item interval to 5 seconds (a backup of the old file is saved next to it). - A match needs at least two players. Solo practice is for trying things out.
