Description

Void Lords

Three dimensions. One hero.

Void Lords adds four story-driven boss fights tied together in one chain. Each boss drops what you need to forge the weapons for the next one, so the fights become a journey from the Overworld, through the Nether, to the End.

The Chain

1. The Cathedral: Warden of the Void

A cultist cathedral rises somewhere in the world. Fight your way through Acolytes, Penitents, Preachers and Void Priests to reach its sealed heart. When the ritual begins, the hatch seals behind you, and the Warden of the Void awaits below.

2. The Overworld: Ul-Thaar, the Drowned God

We have mapped the stars better than the bottom of our own oceans. Something has been sleeping down there. Perform the awakening ritual and watch a titan rise from the unexplored depths. Ul-Thaar fights with tentacle waves, waterspouts and tide bolts. When enraged, it gets far worse.

3. The Nether: Gor'Makh, the Ash Gnawer

A burrowing horror of ash and magma. You will kill it once, but it comes back. The second phase is the real fight.

4. The End: Nyx'Arrath, the Star Eater

Place the four elemental crystals on the exit portal and the sky itself tears open. Nyx'Arrath glides out of the rift, devours the Ender Dragon and takes its place. It shifts between elemental forms, takes to the sky to rain down breath attacks and falling orbs, scatters you with wing gusts, slams back to the ground, and bends gravity itself.

A New End Sky

The End is no longer an empty void. Galaxies, nebulae and a Milky Way ring that wraps beneath the islands fill the sky, and a black hole orbits overhead, bending the light of everything behind it as it passes. The rift Nyx'Arrath came from stays open for the whole fight and only closes when it dies.

Shader support: the sky also works with Oculus shader packs. It has been tested with Complementary Reimagined. If it looks wrong with your pack, set shaderCompatSky = false in config/void_lords-nyx.toml.

Forged Weapons

The bosses are not meant to be fought with a regular diamond sword. Each victory gives you the materials for the next arsenal:

  • Abyss Harpoon and Tide Staff
  • Whirlpool Blade and Deluge Staff
  • Dragonbane and Prism Staff

Multiplayer

Bosses scale their health with the number of players nearby (+75% per extra player by default, configurable). Bring friends, and expect a longer fight. Tested on a dedicated server.

Configuration

Every boss has its own config file (health, damage and timings), plus a shared void_lords-common.toml for multiplayer scaling. The custom End sky can be turned off with customEndSky = false.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.20.1
  • Forge 47+
  • Required on both client and server
