VIRTUAL PROCESSING

Virtual Processing brings AE2-compatible virtual Mekanism automation: install machine modules in an Assembly Core, encode patterns, and process item, fluid, and chemical recipes without building every physical machine.

What's new

Key changes since version 0.1.17

This update represents a major evolution of Virtual Processing, featuring new storage, processing, and integration systems, as well as a significant overhaul of the mod's infrastructure.

Virtual Storage

Added a virtual storage system for items, fluids, and chemicals.
Added storage disks and capacity upgrades.
Improved persistence, movement, and management of stored resources.

Central Computer

Added the Central Computer to manage the VP network's computational capacity.
Implemented systems for Cores, Threads, memory, and processing capacity.
Integrated with network job planning and execution.

Assembly Core and Processing

Major overhaul of the virtual processing system.
Improvements to queuing, parallelism, energy consumption, and job execution.
Expanded support for various machines and recipe types.
Improved timing calculations and behavior of virtualized machines.

Machine Integration

Expanded machine identification and analysis system.
Implemented an internal technical environment to load and analyze real machines.
Improved reading of recipes, inputs, outputs, energy, speed, and upgrades.
Expanded integration with Mekanism machines, including support for various resource and recipe types.

Manufacturing and Recipes

Major evolution of the VP manufacturing system.
Improved recipe planning and dependency handling.
Improved management of in-progress, completed, and cancelled jobs.
Enhanced communication between processing, storage, and manufacturing systems.

Applied Energistics 2

Significantly expanded AE2 integration.
Improved querying and usage of resources stored in the ME network.
Improved routing of processed results back to storage.
Enhanced communication between the AE2 crafting system and Virtual Processing.

Interfaces

Various GUIs have been reorganized and redesigned. Fixed issues regarding element positioning, overlapping, and organization.
Began migrating interfaces previously coded directly into the game to dedicated graphic assets.
GUI buttons and backgrounds now feature independent structures, allowing for a more polished visual finish without altering functional areas.

Compatibility

Legacy systems remain in the backend where necessary to ensure compatibility with worlds created in earlier versions.
Various internal changes have been made to prepare Virtual Processing for future overhauls without breaking existing save files.
Note

Virtual Processing remains in the Alpha stage. This version includes significant structural changes and may still undergo major modifications during development.

This is the version I would use on CurseForge: it isn't overly long, it demonstrates the massive evolution since version 0.1.17, and—most importantly—it doesn't prematurely announce the new system we are currently planning (physical machines + removal of patterns + automatic routing) as finished.
