What's new
0.1.9.6-alpha — consolidated public update
### Virtual Storage and power
- Functional internal buffer of 1,000,000 FE in Virtual Storage and Storage Converter.
- Virtual Storage consumes 10 FE/t with an installed AC, plus 10 FE/t for every
full 10,000 AC; there is no consumption with 0 AC.
- Power loss atomically pauses AE2 access without losing capacity or items.
- Virtual Storage, Assembly Core, Chemical Storage, and Pattern Encoder now require
an AE2 channel. The Storage Converter correctly remains network-independent.
- GUI synchronizes power, state, capacity, progress, and type limits without
breaking the menu due to packet size mismatches.
### Safe conversion and persistence
- Conversion rate maintained at 2,000 AC/s, consuming exactly 1 FE for every AC written.
- The source remains visible and locked until all outputs are safely confirmed.
- Source, manifest, progress, power, and partial drive persist through GUI closure,
world saving, and block breaking/replacement.
- Full drives hold 128,000 AC and are automatically moved to the output;
the second slot holds the partial drive currently being filled.
- Conversion validated for vanilla chests, trapped chests, barrels, and shulker boxes,
standard and portable AE2 cells, and Sophisticated Storage chests/barrels.
- New support for Sophisticated Backpacks, preserving capacity and
content via their public API and transferring persisted ownership once.
- New safe support for Iron Chests and empty Create Item Vault blocks.
Unknown data or unverifiable block content is rejected intact. - Generic discovery prioritizes public capabilities: portable inventories based on the `CONTAINER` component and blocks with homogeneous `Container` contents can be converted without a mod-specific adapter, and without placing test blocks or items in the game world.
- Simulated queries run only on isolated copies and are guaranteed to be read-only; external or ambiguous storage systems remain untouched.
- Upgrades installed in cells or external storage units are not mistaken for actual contents and must be removed prior to conversion.
### Upgrade types and migration
- A single slot accepts Tier 1, 2, or 3 upgrades, raising the total limit to 400, 600, or 800 types, respectively.
- Tier 2 evolves from Tier 1, and Tier 3 evolves from Tier 2.
- Safe migration preserves the highest limit from older versions and returns any redundant upgrades instead of deleting them.
- Dedicated cyan, violet, and gold chips visually identify each tier.
### Manual and maintenance
- Expanded in-game manual featuring chapters on Virtual Storage, AC Hard Drives, capacity freeing, upgrades, power, the converter, and safe conversion guarantees.
- Full translations of these chapters in English and Brazilian Portuguese.
- Removed the old experimental empty storage adapter; replaced with explicit, verifiable integrations for each mod.
### Virtual Storage late-game progression
- Base capacity reduced to 200 types.
- Three non-cumulative upgrades: +200, +400, and +600 types, maintaining a maximum of 800.
- Automatic migration preserves type limits from worlds created in the previous version.
- Dedicated, progressively more expensive recipes for the three tiers. - Internal buffer of 1,000,000 AE in Virtual Storage and Storage Converter.
- Virtual Storage now consumes energy based on installed AE; without energy,
AE2 integration pauses atomically and safely.
- Storage Converter consumes energy only during an active conversion and advances
2,000 AE every 20 powered ticks.
- Energy and conversion progress displayed in the GUI and saved to the block.
- 91 unit tests and 20 GameTests completed without failures.
