Villager Civilization
I got tired of villagers just wandering around all day, so I made them actually do something. Every villager gets a job and the town grows on its own.
Jobs
- Lumberjack: cuts down real trees (never the village houses) and replants behind him.
- Miner: digs a staircase down, follows ore veins and comes back up with what he found.
- Builder: picks a spot, clears it, grabs materials and builds block by block.
- Farmer: harvests and replants the fields.
- Guard: patrols the town, kills monsters and protects the villagers.
- Explorer: once the town is big enough, he heads out to found a colony. A road with bridges and lamp posts then connects the two towns.
Every villager carries a backpack. When it's full, he empties it in the town's storage room, and builders come there to pick up what they need. You can open the chests to check the stock.
The town
Buildings follow the style of Minecraft villages and change with the biome (plains, taiga, snowy, savanna, desert): houses, farms, wells, a forge, a bakery, a library, a church, a tavern, a market, a barn, watchtowers... Each building is connected to the center by a path. Villagers sleep in beds at night, have kids when there's room and food, and fix what gets broken. Once the forge is built and they've mined enough iron, they switch to iron tools.
They remember
Hit a villager and he fights back, his neighbors come to help. Kill one and the whole town remembers: they recognize you when you come back, the guards ring the alarm and nobody wants to trade with you anymore. To make up for it you'll need to bring them gifts (sneak + right-click with an item).
Commands
/civ ville: info about the nearest town
/civ liste: all towns
/civ reputation: what each town thinks of you
/civ fonder, /civ expedition, /civ citoyen: for ops
Sneak + right-click with an empty hand on a villager: his info card and backpack.
Info
- Minecraft 26.3
- Forge 66.1.0+ or Fabric (Fabric API required)
- Existing villagers become citizens automatically. You can turn that off with /civ conversion false.
- In-game messages are in French for now.
This is the first version, so there might still be some bugs. If you find one, leave a comment explaining what happened.
