Verity Friendly Companion

An unofficial Verity JE addon with server-hosted AI, multilingual voice, 32 interface languages, world-aware tools, building and optional personal horror.

Verity Friendly Companion

An unofficial addon for original Verity JE 3.4.1 that adds a configurable in-world assistant for long singleplayer and multiplayer adventures.

Requirements

Minecraft 1.21.1 · NeoForge 21.1.250 or newer 21.1.x · Java 21. Install original Verity JE 3.4.1, GeckoLib 4.9.3 or compatible newer 4.x, and the matching companion addon on the server and every client. Required mods are separate and not bundled.

What it adds

  • Ordinary chat with Google Gemini or local LM Studio models, with server-side tools for inventory, enchantments, effects, mobs, recipes, achievements and available FTB Quests progress. Optional integrations require their corresponding mods.
  • Hold R to speak and release to send. M cycles microphones. The recording HUD shows the selected input; bindings are configurable in Minecraft Controls.
  • Complete voice replies generated on the host. Clients need no API keys, Python or AI models.
  • Items, effects, enchanting, buildings and recorded undo, subject to server settings, permissions and protection checks. Building uses free blocks.
  • Individual names, personas, relationships, faces and language preferences, with 32 translated interfaces. Persona selection does not change the 3D model.
  • Optional personal horror/boss encounters. Random horror is off by default; the personal boss defaults to mood-triggered at zero. Operators can disable them.

New in beta.21

Cloud chat, TTS and optional transcription now run in Java inside the addon JAR. Google and native LM Studio chat need no Python bridge. Model lists and command choices reflect detected backend readiness. Verity also keeps the correct box position when emerging on partial-height blocks.

Windows/Linux setup supports basic JAR/game installation and optional advanced local audio backends. Native audio.cpp ASR and Drama 3 need separately prepared binaries/models; Faster Whisper, ROCm Whisper and Silero use optional isolated Python environments. No weights, recordings or credentials are bundled.

Host setup and privacy

Run /companion setup as an operator and configure the host's backend. Google keys stay only on the server, outside the JAR. The host must confirm a free/no-billing Google project; quotas still apply. Optional microphone uploads to Google require separate host consent and start disabled.

Microphone recordings go to the Minecraft host. Cloud services receive the messages, recent dialogue, requested game context, reply text or explicitly enabled recordings needed for their selected function. Chat replies/transcripts are public by default, configurable by the host; voice playback is personal. Local chat alone does not make Google TTS or Internet tools offline.

Use /companion help, /llm help, /tts and /voice status. Operators can refresh availability with /llm refresh. LLM/backend changes require operator permission.

Beta limits: custom GUIs/networks are not universally supported. Recognition, model tool use and voice quality vary by backend. Local models load on first use, cloud voice can queue, and speech is push-to-talk rather than a continuous call.
