Description
VeinRebirth is an ore generation tuning mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge, inspired by the custom world ore settings from version 1.12.2.
It turns what used to require data packs and JSON editing into simple sliders. The in-game config screen (styled like vanilla Minecraft and fully localized in Chinese) features a searchable, scrollable ore list on the left, categorized by vanilla and modded ores. Selecting an ore lets you adjust four parameters in real-time on the right: generation count (attempts per chunk), vein size (blocks per vein), weight (relative spawn chance), and height range (min/max Y-level). All changes apply instantly to newly generated chunks.
The mod automatically detects ores added by other mods in your pack by scanning the block registry and the forge:ores tag. Ores like tin, silver, lead, and platinum are added to the UI and config. It supports "taking over" their generation—by clearing the original generation and replacing it with your custom values. This prevents duplicate generation without needing to edit other mods' data packs. Already generated chunks don't require a new world. Simply run the /veinrebirth refresh command to regenerate ores around you, with a maximum radius of 8 chunks. The mod also generates a config file at config/veinrebirth-ores.toml with full Chinese comments. Players who prefer editing files can use any text editor; just run /veinrebirth reload to apply changes. Every parameter is customizable, and each line includes a Chinese description.
Don't want to tweak ores individually? The UI includes five built-in presets (Vanilla, Rich World, Super Rich, Giant Veins, and Lean Survival). With one click, you can apply an entire configuration style. Presets are calculated based on default values, so repeatedly applying the same preset yields identical results and won't affect disabled ores. Once you're happy with your setup, you can generate a share code—a compressed text string of your entire configuration. Others can simply paste it into the import box to apply the full setup. The code includes checksum validation to catch missing characters, and it automatically skips ores from mods the recipient doesn't have installed.
Ideal use cases: Significantly boosting ore yields, creating a resource-rich survival world, rebalancing ore distribution (including modded ores) in modpacks, quickly sharing your ore setup with friends, or simply avoiding the hassle of writing data packs just to tweak ore generation.
