The problem
Faithful Vein Miner fells the whole tree when you break a log while sneaking. That's great with an axe, but it also works bare-handed or while holding any item: a block, food, a sword…
The mod does check for the "correct tool". But in Minecraft a log can be broken by hand, so the empty hand counts as a valid tool.
The fix
This addon adds the missing check right before Faithful Vein Miner fells a tree:
- With an axe: sneaking and breaking a log fells the whole tree, exactly like before.
- Any axe works, vanilla and modded (everything in the
minecraft:axestag), plus any tool that can chop like an axe, such as Mekanism paxels. - Without an axe: the log breaks normally, on its own.
- Only real trees are felled. The logs must be connected to natural leaves (leaves that weren't placed by a player). A log house, wall or roof frame is never felled, even with an axe: only the log you hit breaks.
- Ore vein mining is unchanged.
It doesn't modify Faithful Vein Miner's jar: it hooks into it at runtime, so it keeps working across its updates as long as its internal code stays the same.
Installation
- Server only. Put the jar in the server's
modsfolder next to Faithful Vein Miner. Players don't need it. - Requires NeoForge 21.1.x for Minecraft 1.21.1 and Faithful Vein Miner 1.0.x.
- Without Faithful Vein Miner installed, the mod does nothing.
No configuration needed.
