What's new

Version 1.1.0 - Changelog

Altar Structure

  • Redesigned the multiblock: a solid 5x5 base one block below the altar, with four iron block pillars (4 blocks tall) at the corners, capped with lightning rods.
  • Removed the intermediate 3x3 step from the old two-tier design to simplify construction.
  • Added precise structure diagnostics: failure messages now report the exact coordinates and what's missing there (missing base block, missing pillar, missing lightning rod), instead of a generic "not consecrated" message.
  • Added a lightning strike effect (visual only, no damage) on the pillars' rods the first time the altar is opened, and again every time a ritual is successfully sealed.

Entity Merge

  • Merged the Black Knight and the Veil Herald into a single boss entity. It keeps the Herald's spellcasting (beam, summon shadows, scream, curse nova) and gains the Knight's melee abilities (Charge, Ground Slam).
  • Now uses the Knight's larger, more imposing texture and scale (~6 blocks tall).
  • Merged loot table (staff, knight's heart, veil shards, iron, emeralds).

Ritual Rebalancing

  • Significantly increased reagent and corruption costs for both Temporal and Infinite rituals.
  • Infinite rituals now additionally require a Veil Shard catalyst (rare resource) and a minimum number of Veil creatures slain (new persistent kill counter that survives player death).
  • The altar will no longer respond unless the player is carrying a Veil Grimoire on them (main hand, off hand, or inventory).

New Altar GUI

  • Replaced the old direct right-click interaction with a full ritual tablet: an all-seeing eye background, a central grimoire slot, and Temporal/Infinite branch buttons that unlock once the grimoire is placed.
  • Selecting a branch reveals three offering slots arranged in a triangle.
  • Added tooltips on the "Seal the Pact" button showing exact requirements.
  • Enlarged the interface (230x330) with properly spaced buttons.
  • Fixed a rendering bug where the background was pinned to the top-left corner instead of being centered.
  • Fixed a compile-time issue (Slot.x/Slot.y are final in Forge 1.20.1) by redesigning to a single shared triangle of offering slots instead of repositioning slots.

Grimoire

  • Plain right-click now opens a read-only recipe book listing all six pacts, their reagent, Temporal cost, Infinite cost (reagent + catalyst + kills), and required corruption.
  • Sneak + right-click still cycles the selected pact.
  • Removed the old Temporal/Infinite mode toggle from the grimoire (mode is now chosen in the altar GUI).

Sound Overhaul

  • Regenerated all sound effects (whisper, ritual, stalker appearance, veil ambience, herald scream, veil pull) with lower, more unsettling tones and reduced volumes.
  • Added a new "altar_open" sound (a low creak) for opening the ritual tablet.

New Enemy

  • Added the Corrupted Wretch: a fast, weak swarmer that poisons on hit and spawns in packs in the Veil, providing more opportunities to meet the Infinite ritual's kill requirement.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed compile error: Slot.y is a final field in this Forge version; redesigned the offering slot system to avoid needing to move slots.
  • Fixed compile error: RegisterMenuScreensEvent doesn't exist in Forge 1.20.1 (it's NeoForge-only); switched to MenuScreens.register() inside FMLClientSetupEvent.
  • Fixed GUI background rendering at the top-left corner instead of being centered.
  • Fixed the altar's structure requirements being overly strict and confusing; simplified to the 5x5 base + 4 pillars.
