Valley Spirits
Befriend cozy nature spirits that tend your farm, call rain, light the night and help restore a ruined valley.
Old shrines lie asleep across the land. Wake them, and little spirits of water, earth, wind and light come to live in homes you build for them. Feed them, bond with them and give them work. As you plant, grow and breed animals, the valley heals, and your spirits grow from tiny Motes into great Elders.
The four spirits
💧 Water spirits keep your farmland wet without any water blocks. Later they call little rain clouds that make crops grow faster, and the Water Elder (an otter that stands up now and then) rains over its whole area.
🌱 Earth spirits gather seeds from the grass, replant crops after harvest, help saplings and berry bushes grow, and at Elder tier heal bare dirt, grow trees, spread moss and flowers, or make crops drop extra. The Earth Elder is a giant mossy tortoise with a tree on its shell.
🌬️ Wind spirits pick up dropped items and bring them to a chest, harvest ripe crops, spread wildflowers, and at Elder tier fill beehives, help animals grow, or blow whole harvests straight into storage.
✨ Light spirits place soft invisible lights around dark spots so monsters can't spawn, follow you into caves as a glowing orb, and at higher tiers ward hostile mobs away. The Light Elder keeps a large area safe from monsters spawning at night.
Grow together
- 4 tiers: Mote → Sprite → Spirit → Elder, each with its own model, animations and new jobs.
- Valley restoration: planting saplings and flowers and breeding animals restores the valley. At 25%, 50% and 80% each shrine opens a new offering task that raises its spirits to the next tier.
- Bond: spirits you feed and care for trust you more and work a bigger area.
- Spirit homes: a water bowl, berry planter, wind chime post and lantern. Up to 3 spirits can share a home.
The Spirit Journal
A book for managing all your spirits: see each one's portrait, tier and bond, rename them, send them to follow you or go home, choose their job, paint their exact work area on a map, and set a drop-off chest.
Shrine ruins
Ruined shrines appear in the world: water in plains, earth in forests, wind in hills and light in taiga. Each has its own look.
Made for modpacks
Almost everything can be changed in config/valleyspirits-common.toml: shrine order, wake tasks, tier offerings, spirit limits, work areas, rain, light levels, seed chances and more. Snacks, seeds and crops use item and block tags, gathering uses a loot table, and there are advancements for every shrine, tier and Elder, ready for quest mods. The optional "hard farming" rules (rarer seeds, bone meal off) can be switched on or off.
Works in single player and on servers.
Requires: NeoForge 1.21.1 and GeckoLib.
Modpacks: you may include Valley Spirits in any modpack, no need to ask.
