A year ago, some brilliant devs were discussing in neoforged/NeoForge#2021 whether servers should keep syncing recipes to clients like they used to.
Emi once put it this way:
"the number of users who setup a neo server with just create and farmer's delight and have players who want to use JEI or EMI on their own instance”
That got me thinking: what happens after the change? Is there still a way to make this work?
Today, I finally have an answer—even if it might already be common knowledge to some.
Excited to share it with you all! :)
Use Local Recipes
Client-side mod. Fixes empty JEI when a server doesn't sync recipes.
What it does
- Loads recipes from your local Minecraft jar, client mods, and data packs if the server sends none.
- Server recipes always win. Duplicate IDs are removed.
- Resolves tags like
#minecraft:plankscorrectly. - Loads in a background thread, so no lag.
- Adds client-side JEI
+transfer when JEI isn't on the server. Works with normal and shift-click.
Config
.minecraft/config/uselocalrecipes.json
enabledsyncDelayTicks(60)preferServerTypes(true)warnAboutLocalRecipes(true)logFailedRecipes(false)clientSideTransfer(true)
Compatibility
- Client-only. Don't install on servers.
- Singleplayer bypasses it.
- Fabric and NeoForge.
Use Local Recipes
.minecraft/config/uselocalrecipes.json
enabledsyncDelayTicks(60)preferServerTypes(true)warnAboutLocalRecipes(true)logFailedRecipes(false)clientSideTransfer(true)
兼容
- 仅客户端,别装服务器。
- 单人游戏自动跳过。
