Description

Universal Adaptive Backporter (UAB)

Modern Minecraft. Classic Foundations.

Universal Adaptive Backporter (UAB) brings content from Minecraft 1.8 through 1.21.11 into Minecraft 1.7.10, adapting modern blocks, items, mobs, biomes, structures, and gameplay mechanics to work within the classic Forge environment.

Originally developed from Et Futurum Requiem, UAB has evolved into a substantially expanded backport focused on survival functionality, configurability, world compatibility, and native integration.

Rather than simply introducing modern blocks as decorations or creative-only items, UAB aims to make modern Minecraft content obtainable, functional, and meaningfully integrated into legacy gameplay.

Features

Modern Content Across Minecraft Updates

Experience content spanning more than a decade of Minecraft updates, including:

  • 1.8–1.12: Ocean Monuments, Guardians, End Cities, Elytra, Shulkers, Totems of Undying, Woodland Mansions, Concrete, and more.
  • 1.13–1.15: Aquatic mobs, coral reefs, shipwrecks, tridents, conduits, pillager raids, village workstations, bees, and honey.
  • 1.16–1.18: Nether biomes, bastions, Netherite, Piglins, Striders, copper, amethyst, deepslate, and modern mountain biomes.
  • 1.19–1.20: Ancient Cities, Wardens, sculk, mangrove swamps, Cherry Groves, archaeology, armor trims, Camels, and Sniffers.
  • 1.21–1.21.11: Trial Chambers, Breeze, Bogged, Pale Gardens, Creaking, Copper Golems, Happy Ghasts, Spears, Nautiluses, and additional modern equipment.

Features are individually configurable, allowing players and modpack developers to choose which updates and mechanics belong in their experience.

Modern Mobs and Survival Mechanics

UAB introduces modern mob families with behavior adapted to Minecraft 1.7.10.

Discover aquatic wildlife, fight Pillager raids, encounter the Warden, explore Trial Chambers, raise modern animals, and interact with newer creatures.

Mobs include survival-oriented implementations of their spawning, combat, breeding, drops, equipment, and other applicable mechanics.

Some modern AI and animation systems are adapted rather than reproduced exactly.

Expanded World Generation

Explore a substantially expanded Minecraft world featuring:

  • Modern surface, mountain, and ocean biomes
  • Optional Nether biomes and vegetation
  • Shipwrecks, ocean ruins, and buried treasure
  • Bastion Remnants and Pillager Outposts
  • Woodland Mansions and Trail Ruins
  • Ancient Cities and Trial Chambers
  • Outer End islands, End Cities, and related content

Modern structures are adapted for Minecraft 1.7.10's world height and terrain generation.

Structure placement uses persistent world data and safeguards designed to avoid unwanted regeneration, duplicated loot, and conflicts with existing terrain.

Existing chunks are not automatically regenerated. Explore new terrain to discover newly generated content.

Functional Progression and Equipment

Modern content is integrated into legacy survival progression wherever practical.

This includes Netherite equipment, smithing upgrades, armor trims, archaeology, copper oxidation, modern farming, brewing additions, mob equipment, and newer weapons.

Functional workstations, loot systems, and crafting dependencies provide ways to acquire and use content naturally rather than relying on Creative Mode.

Unsupported prerequisites are not silently replaced with unrelated materials.

Highly Configurable

UAB uses a unified configuration system located at:

config/uab.cfg

Configuration options are organized by the Minecraft update that introduced each feature.

  • Enable or disable entire Minecraft updates.
  • Configure individual content families and gameplay mechanics.
  • Control individual mob availability and applicable spawn weights.
  • Adjust supported group sizes and world-generation behavior.
  • Configure optional mod integrations and client preferences.
  • Preserve existing preferences when enabling or disabling update categories.

The configuration contains over 350 distinct feature switches, offering extensive control without requiring multiple scattered configuration files.

Existing recognized EFR settings can be imported automatically, with backups retained during migration.

Designed for Legacy Modpacks

UAB prioritizes compatibility with the Minecraft 1.7.10 ecosystem.

  • Retains existing Et Futurum technical identities for world compatibility.
  • Supports dedicated servers and multiplayer.
  • Provides optional integrations with NEI, Waila, CraftTweaker, and Iron Chests.
  • Includes compatibility adaptations for selected legacy mods.
  • Uses native legacy world generation and saved-data systems.
  • Does not require HogUtils, FastUtil, GTNHLib, or GTNHExtLib.

UAB is intended to coexist with other legacy mods instead of unnecessarily replacing Minecraft's underlying systems.

Installation

Requirements:

  • Minecraft 1.7.10
  • Minecraft Forge 10.13.4.1614
  • Java 8
  • UniMixins, including the GTNH Mixins module

Install UAB and its dependencies in your mods folder. Dedicated servers also require UAB.

Some assets are provided through the included Minecraft AssetDirector integration and may require an initial download.

Important: Remove previous Et Futurum Requiem or Et Futurum Requiem Reforged installations before installing UAB. They share technical mod identities and cannot be installed simultaneously.

Back up existing worlds before upgrading.

Compatibility and Limitations

UAB adapts modern content to the Minecraft 1.7.10 engine rather than attempting to replace that engine entirely.

Consequently, some modern functionality differs from newer Minecraft versions. UAB does not provide a complete modern swimming or waterlogging engine, modern world-height expansion, universal cave-biome generation, or a complete modern combat overhaul.

Certain mob behaviors, animations, structures, and systems retain documented limitations.

The goal is a coherent, playable legacy experience rather than claiming perfect mechanical parity with every modern release.

Origins and Credits

Universal Adaptive Backporter began as a fork of Et Futurum Requiem, previously maintained under the name Et Futurum Requiem Reforged.

The project builds on contributions from the original Et Futurum developers, Et Futurum Requiem maintainers, and the wider legacy modding community.

All inherited contributions retain attribution. The project retains its LGPL-3.0 code license, with third-party assets governed by their respective licenses.
