Underground Worlds

Underground Worlds is a Minecraft mod that adds underground biomes and underground dungeons, as well as some above ground structures, in a modular and configurable way.

About

Underground Worlds was born as Underground Jungle, a mod that added an underground jungle biome and a jungle temple somewhat inspired by the one in Terraria.

When the development continued and more biomes were added, I decided it would have been better to put all biomes in the same mod and allow users to enable and disable features through config files instead of making a separate mod for each biome.

All biomes added by Underground Worlds can be enabled or disabled in the config. The config can also disable certain features for each biome.

Underground Jungle

The Underground Jungle biome tends to generate below hot and humid biomes such as jungles, but might generate below other biomes as well. The biome consists in patches of mud and jungle grass, a lush green grass that can spread to mud blocks and keeps the same green color in all biomes.

The Jungle Temple is a rare structure full of traps found in the underground jungle. Every temple has a treasure chest and a temple key that you need to open the treasure chest. The treasure chest will contain one tool from the temple set, a set of tools that do not get destroyed by explosions.

The Blade of the Jungle is a sword crafted from the sword of the temple that can inflict poison on hit. The Axe of Regrowth is an axe crafted from the axe of the temple that plants saplings when cutting down trees.

Jungle Zombies and Jungle Bees can be found in the underground jungle. They are both hostile towards players and can poison them on hit.

Chests found around the underground jungle may contain an Antidote Flask, a special item that can make you immune to poison. It can be equipped in the charm slot if Curios is installed.

Spider Caves

The Spider Cave is an underground biome that can be recognized by the abundance of cobwebs and spider eggs. Cobblestone and cobbled deepslate generate in this biome, as well as a larger amount of coal than usual. You can also find abandoned structures and chests covered in cobwebs in these caves. The spider cave biome tends to generate under cold and dry biomes, the kind of environment that spiders like.

Only spiders, cave spiders, and black recluses can spawn in this biome. The Black Recluse is a very venomous spider that has a chance to drop a Spider Fang, needed to craft the spider armor.

The Spider Armor offers low protection, but wearing the full set gives you a chance to poison your attackers when they deal direct damage to you.

Underground Tundra

The Underground Tundra is a frozen underground biome that generates in cold areas of the world. The biome is covered in snow and powder snow on the floor and has icicles on the ceiling.

Frozen Zombies, Icy Creepers and Strays can be found in this biome. Frozen zombies can cause players to freeze on contact, icy creepers can also freeze players and other mobs if they explode close to them.

The Ice Dungeon is a structure made either of stone bricks or ice bricks and can contain ice chests that can contain the frozen core, an item used to craft freezing tools.

The set of Freezing Tools is crafted from an iron tool and the frozen core, they can cause mobs to freeze when hit.

Underground Desert

The Underground Desert is a dangerous biome full of sand and quicksand. Players that walk on quicksand will sink into it and start suffocating if their head gets below the sand. Fossils consisting of bone blocks and diamond ore are a lot common to be found in this biome.

Ashans and husks can spawn in the underground desert. Ashans are a type of skeleton that shoot arrows of blindness.

The Pyramid can be found in the underground desert and contains the desert charm, as well as other treasure.

The Desert Charm is a special item found in the pyramid that makes you immune to the blindness effect. It can be equipped in the charm slot if Curios is installed.

The Wrapped is a mob that spawns only inside and around the pyramid. It can make the player blind for a few seconds on contact.

The Archives

The Archives are a structure found underground in most biomes. Here you will find maps leading to the other major dungeons of the mod.

Abyssal Ruins

The Abyssal Ruins is a rare, large structure found a few blocks below the bottom of deep oceans, built with abyssal prismarine and full of abyssal guardians.

Here you can find abyssal shell shards, which can be used to craft the abyssal conduit. Unlike the vanilla one, the abyssal conduit can damage all the mobs in the water at once when fully encased in its structure.

Minor structures

The Chillager Outpost is a tower rarely found in snowy biomes. If Friends & Foes is installed, it will contain an Iceologer at the top.

The Jungle Treehouse can be rarely found in jungle biomes. It is a treehouse with a villager that is supposed to let players know that a particular type of villager can be obtained in jungle biomes.

The Swamp House can be rarely found in the swamp. It is a house with a villager that is supposed to let players know that a particular type of villager can be obtained in swamps.
