UAV Horizon Mod — 1.1.0

This update improves catapult launches, flight handling, seeker cameras, terminal map loading, and audiovisual effects.

Requires Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge. Update both the client and server to 1.1.0: the waypoint network format has changed.

Launching and flight

  • Added a large catapult for Geran variants and FP-1. Gerbera uses the small catapult.
  • Improved attachment to the launch carriage and the transition into flight after release.
  • Refined model-part collision during turns and added ground-contact friction and rotation.
  • Improved FP-1 handling with bank-dependent turning, roll inertia, speed-dependent lift, and energy loss during turns and sideslip.
  • Smoothed vertical maneuvers and seeker flight paths. Network movement smoothing now bridges short update gaps without extrapolating indefinitely.
  • Increased Geran-4 cruise speed to 42 blocks/s and its exhaust-trail threshold to 44 blocks/s.
  • Increased Geran and FP-1 explosion damage by approximately 6%.

Seeker cameras and thermal vision

  • Increased maximum seeker zoom to 100×.
  • Added sky selection for flying toward a distant direction while maintaining altitude.
  • Releasing Q/E now holds the current altitude with smoother leveling. Leaving the camera also stops altitude adjustment.
  • Fixed late target corrections that could make a seeker pull up during its final dive.
  • The green target box now appears when acquisition is confirmed, after 0.8–2.3 seconds. Removed random acquisition failures.
  • Added a thin, offset shadow to the seeker crosshair and selection box.
  • Refined the FP-1 heart reticle and reduced it to 14×14 pixels.
  • Improved remote camera chunk retention and prioritized nearby chunk loading.
  • Added limited natural hostile-mob spawning attempts around remote cameras, respecting world rules, terrain, and lighting.
  • Refined thermal contrast, silhouettes, and sensor noise.
  • Fixed the thermal-vision crash caused by concurrent cache access from Entity Culling. Improved cache cleanup and cleanup of post-processing buffers when shader initialization fails.

Terminal map and waypoints

  • Newly loaded chunks receive priority when updating the terminal map.
  • Map scanning follows the configured render distance and accounts for the remote camera position.
  • Moving between chunks no longer restarts the refresh sweep.
  • Increased scanning throughput while the terminal is open, with a time budget to limit frame-time impact.
  • Avoided redundant overview-texture updates while preserving explored map history.
  • Added an Obstacle Avoidance checkbox, supported by Apply to All Waypoints. Aircraft climb ahead of loaded terrain and buildings without changing the saved waypoint altitude.

Audio and explosion effects

  • Geran-2 has a louder distant engine sound, lower flight pitch, and smoother transitions between catapult, close-flight, and distant recordings.
  • Extended Geran-2's close-flight sound fade-out to approximately 150 blocks, retaining altitude-based attenuation.
  • Refined the carbureted Geran-2 dive sound: a brief rev, a deeper pitch drop, and gradual recovery over 4.2–5.2 seconds.
  • Added a launch pitch response based on actual release speed for all UAVs, with a subtler effect on Geran-4.
  • Reworked the mod's large explosion effects with softer smoke textures, varied fire plumes, rising smoke, sparks, dust, and fading glow. Gerbera retains its existing explosion effect; Explosion Overhaul continues to provide its own visuals when enabled.
