What's new

The first release. Tycoon Calendar gives a world one date - the same in every mod that asks for it. It adds no blocks and no items: it is the clock other mods set their prices, rents and birthdays by, and a small date in the corner of your screen.

Added

  • One date for the whole world. Today's date is worked out from the world's time, so it moves with the sun: by default 24 calendar days pass in one Minecraft day - a day every 50 seconds, a year in about five hours of play. Every mod that uses the calendar sees the same day.
  • Pick the year your world starts in. "Create New World" has a Start date button on the Game tab, from 1995 to today. The start is saved with the world, and a world that already exists never moves - changing the config later only presets new worlds.
  • Existing worlds keep their date. A world that already ran before the calendar was installed - for example a Data Center world - keeps the start and the pace it ran at (Data Center's calendar.fictionalDaysPerMcDay, 12 by default), stored with the world. Dates, prices and bills do not jump when you add the mod.
  • On a server, the first operator decides. When a new server world has no start yet, the first operator to join is asked once which year it begins in (players without the mod get a clickable chat line instead). /calendar start <YYYY-MM-DD> sets it while it is still open; force changes it afterwards, with a warning that dates, prices and birthdays move with it.
  • The date on screen. Today's date sits in the top left corner, for example "Saturday, 9 January 1999". It hides with F1 and while F3 is open, and every player can switch it off in the client config (hud.showDate). Month and weekday names follow each player's language.
  • Change the pace without a restart. /calendar tempo shows how fast days pass - calendar days per Minecraft day, seconds per day, hours per year. /calendar tempo <1-365> (operators) changes it for this world at once: today's date stays where it is, only the time from now on runs faster or slower. The pace is saved with the world; the config is only the default for new ones.
  • Jump to a date. /calendar date <YYYY-MM-DD> (operators) makes that day today - forwards or back. Only the calendar jumps; the time of day in the world stays.
  • Client and server agree. The server sends its start and its pace when a player joins, so every player sees the server's date, not the one from their own config.
  • For mod developers: CalendarAPI. today(level), start(level), day(level), date(level, day), dayOf(level, date), daysPerMcDay(), ticksPerDay(), format(date) and formatShort(date) - ask the calendar instead of counting days yourself.
  • For mod developers: CalendarEvent. DaysPassed fires when today's date changes - with the number of days, so a night slept through or a date jump counts every day for rent and interest (negative when the date goes back). StartChanged and PaceChanged fire when an operator moves the start or the pace.
  • /calendar on its own tells everyone today's date. /kalender works as well.
