Description
Treecraft
Treecraft replaces vanilla trees in every overworld biome with procedurally generated ones. Trees are grown in the world as chunks generate, so no two are alike, and the same seed always gives the same forest.
What grows
- Forked trunks, buttress roots, curving limbs and layered leaf crowns
- Oak, birch, spruce, pine, dark oak, jungle, acacia, cherry, willow and azalea trees, each in its natural biomes
- The occasional dead snag, and rare ancient giants
- Lush cave azaleas as procedural trees
Trees sit into slopes instead of standing on dirt pillars, never leave floating pieces, and stay out of each other and out of structures. Leaves decay like vanilla once you cut the tree down.
Tree styles
- Wood only: logs, bark and leaves
- Detailed (default): stairs, slabs, trapdoors and fence twigs round off trunks and limbs
- Textured: detailed, plus bark streaks, moss on limbs and blossom blotches made from cheap blocks that never fall
Other mods
Biomes from Terralith, Biomes O' Plenty, Regions Unexplored and other biome mods get procedural trees too, built from each mod's own wood. A biome keeps its tree density and mix. You can limit the mod to vanilla biomes in the config.
Configuration
Tree height, density, dead forest, vines, style, branch and canopy shape all live in one config file. Operators can change them in game with /trees, and singleplayer has a config screen. Changes apply to new chunks. Saplings grow vanilla trees by default, or procedural ones if you turn that on.
Each biome's trees are set in plain JSON, so a data pack can retune any biome.
