0.4.1 - Shift Happens

Your village is humming along; cooks are cooking, farmers are farming, guards are guarding. But as you observe your burgeoning civilization one thing is bothering you... Everybody's work schedule is the same. They all go to bed at the same time (save for those poor guards), and all work at the same time. Now with the new Shift Manager, you can stagger your work shifts, guide when your villagers can rest or socialize, and organize your village to be alive around the clock. You can also decide who does what by manually assigning jobs through the Professions menu.

In the Villagers menu of your blueprint, you'll see two new buttons on the side, Shifts and Professions.

In the Shift Schedule view, you can click on each square repeatedly to set the shift type per hour, or click on the legend at the bottom to be able to paint specific shifts. Clicking on the legend again will unselect it.

Shift Schedule

To change a villager's profession, you can click on Professions and select from the available professions. Some professions have a limit of spots, and this will show you if they've all been filled.

So why wouldn't you just make your villagers work around the clock, like some kind of mad tyrant? Well, introducing one more need (they'll stop at some point, but we've still got a few to build out!): Energy.

As your villagers work, they accumulate fatigue which lowers their energy. You can see a villager's current energy levels in the inspect screen, by hovering over the lightning icon. Villagers will recover energy by sleeping, particularly if they are sleeping on their circadian rhythm (odd, gloomy, and introverted/shy are nocturnal and will prefer to sleep during the day.) Be careful, if a villager has no bed or wears themselves out, they may collapse, where they'll stop everything and fall down. If you have Rustic Delight installed, you can bring them a coffee and they'll get that little extra boost of energy to crawl into bed.

Coffee

Speaking of drinks, Thirst Was Taken is great for vanilla plus playthroughs, but if you're looking for a more expansive needs framework, we now support Legendary Survival Overhaul as a thirst backend. This means you can install LSO instead and your villagers will still have that thirst need. Cooks and Baristas will purify canteens, and to keep this compatible to their workflow, if you use Farmer's Delight, you'll be able to put canteens in a skillet or a campfire to purify them.

Last but not least, if you were having issues with running this on your 1.20.1 server, this should now be fixed. Let me know in the comments if you're still having issues with it!
