🛠️ ToolX — Modular Tool Compression & Amplification
ToolX is a lightweight and highly efficient mod designed for NeoForge (Minecraft 1.21.1) that allows you to optimize your inventory and multiply the performance of your tools through dynamic compression recipes.
If you are tired of carrying multiple pickaxes on your mining trips or want an intuitive way to upgrade your gear without adding dozens of redundant items, ToolX is the perfect solution.
🌟 Key Features
- ⚒️ Proportional Compression: Combine tools of the same tier with their base repair material to create multiplied variants (x2, x3, x4, up to x5).
- ⚡ Multiplied Mining Speed: A x3 pickaxe will mine blocks at 3 times the base speed of the original tool.
- 🛡️ Extended Durability: Maximum durability multiplies according to the compression tier, letting you go on long mining trips without worrying about breaking your gear.
- ⚔️ Adjusted Combat Attributes: Multiplies attack damage and scales attack speed for smoother, more agile combat.
- 🌐 Universal Multimod Support: Built on Minecraft's native
RepairIngredientsystem, recipes automatically work with tools from any other mod (Create, Mekanism, Twilight Forest, etc.) without requiring extra setup. - 🎨 Clean Visual Integration: Keeps original Minecraft textures and items using the 1.21.1 Data Components system, adding a clean golden multiplier tag to the item name and detailed tooltips.
📜 Crafting Mechanics
To upgrade a tool, place a 3-slot horizontal or vertical line in the Crafting Table following this pattern:
- Slot 1: Base tool (e.g., Iron Pickaxe).
- Slot 2 (Center): Base repair material for that tool (e.g., Iron Ingot).
- Slot 3: Second identical tool (e.g., Iron Pickaxe).

Stacking Note: You can combine previously upgraded tools. For example, combining a Pickaxe x2 with another Pickaxe x2 and a repair material in the middle will result in a Pickaxe x4.
⚙️ Configuration (toolx-settings.toml)
The mod automatically generates a configuration file in the config/ folder (or world folder for servers), allowing you to customize limits to suit your pack's balance:
[general]
# Sets the maximum tool multiplier level limit.
# @Var maxMultiplier
# @Type Integer
# @Default 3
# @Min 2
# @Max 100
# @Param value Specifies the maximum allowable multiplier tier for tools.
maxMultiplier = 3
