Tohiro's Rustic Alchemy Addon

Added a mechanism that allows players to mix and strengthen potions while rustic's wine can boost it
# Tohiro's Rustic Alchemy Addon

A golden crucible that lets you brew bottled potions **together**, plus a stirring
rod to do the mixing. Built for 1.12.2 packs that already lean on Rustic — wine,
wildberry wine and elixirs all feed into it.

---

## The idea

Vanilla brewing handles one potion at a time. The Crucible lets you pour up to
three potions into one vessel, stir them for ten seconds, and pull out a single,
stronger potion. Stack the same effect twice and it climbs a level; mix different
ones and the best parts survive.

Everything is capped so it can't run away: **no potion ever lasts longer than two
hours**, and **no effect climbs past level III** — unless you poured something that
was already above III, in which case it holds that level forever and never grows
again.

## How to use it

| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Right-click with a bottled potion | Pours it in (up to three per crucible). You get the empty glass bottle back. |
| Right-click with an empty glass bottle | Takes a potion back out, oldest first. |
| Right-click with the Stirring Rod | Starts a 10-second stir. Purple and green particles swirl above the pot; when it finishes, the contents blend into one potion with an explosion effect (visual only — nothing is damaged). |
| Right-click with an Enchanted Golden Apple | Consumes it to strip every harmful effect out of what's inside. Not consumed if there's nothing to clean. |

Splash and lingering potions are rejected. Rustic's bottled **elixirs** are
accepted and blend under the same rules — a blend made entirely of elixirs comes
back out as an elixir.

You can't pour into or take out of a crucible while it's stirring, and the stirrer
has to stay within six blocks holding the rod, or the stir lapses.

## Mixing rules

Effects are folded together one potion at a time, in pouring order:

| Situation | Result |
|---|---|
| Same effect, same level | Level +1 |
| Same effect, different level | The higher level wins |
| Duration | The longer of the two |
| Effect nobody had yet | Added as-is |

The blended potion is its own registry entry (`laylastra:mixed_potion`) called
**"Mixed Potion"** — not a water bottle, and there is no brewing recipe that
produces it. Its colour is the average of the potions that went into it, and the
liquid inside the crucible is tinted to match.

## The two hard caps

These apply to mixing, to wine, and to everything else — no exceptions:

* **Duration never exceeds two hours** (7200 seconds / 144,000 ticks).
* **Effect level never exceeds III.** A potion that arrives already above III
keeps its level and is never raised again, by mixing or by wine.

The rule is evaluated per effect and needs no history: if either of the two levels
being merged is above III, the result simply takes the higher one and gains nothing.

## Rustic wine

With exactly **one** potion in the crucible (a blended potion counts as one):

| Held item | Effect |
|---|---|
| Wine, quality above 0.95 | Duration of every effect **+100%**, capped at two hours |
| Wildberry Wine, quality above 0.95 | Level of every effect **+1**, still capped at III |

The bottle is consumed. Anything below 0.95 quality is rejected with a message,
and so is using it when the crucible doesn't hold exactly one potion.

## Tooltip support

Install **Hwyla** or **Jade** and the crucible tells you what's inside: how full it
is, what you'd get if you stirred right now (colour-coded, with levels and
durations), and whether a stir is in progress. Both are optional — the mod loads
fine without them.

## Crafting

**Crucible**

Gold Ingot — Gold Ingot
Iron Ingot — Iron Ingot
Gold Ingot Diamond Block Gold Ingot

**Magic Catalyst**

 Grapes Diamond Grapes
 Emerald Grape Juice Emerald
 Grapes Diamond Grapes

Grapes and Grape Juice are Rustic's (`rustic:grapes` and a press bottle of
`grapejuice`). This recipe only exists when Rustic is installed.

**Stirring Rod**

       — Magic Catalyst —
       — Any Wooden Planks —
       — Stick —

> Without Rustic there is no catalyst recipe, so the catalyst and rod can only be
> obtained in creative. Everything else still works.

## Requirements

* **Minecraft 1.12.2**, **Forge 14.23.5.2768** or newer
* **Rustic** — optional, unlocks the catalyst recipe, the wine boosts and elixir blending
* **Hwyla / Jade** — optional, adds the tooltip readout

## Pack compatibility

This was written to drop into a large curated pack without fuss:

* No world generation, no structures, no biomes, no mobs.
* No coremod, no Mixin, no ASM. Plain Forge API.
* Registry names are all under `laylastra:`, recipes under `laylastra:*`.
* Rustic is a **soft** dependency — nothing in the mod links against its classes;
it only looks items up by registry name and reads NBT. The same is true of
  Hwyla/Jade.
* Defensive throughout: malformed or orphaned potion effects are skipped rather
  than throwing.

## Notes

* Splash and lingering potions can't be poured; that's deliberate.
* Mixing a single potion is allowed — it just re-bottles it.
* The crucible drops its contents when broken.
