TOBI's Waypoints v1.5.0 — Major Update
This update brings major improvements to waypoint rendering, multiplayer compatibility, deathpoints, and optional Waystones integration!
Client-First Multiplayer Support
- Personal waypoints now work on public multiplayer servers without requiring TOBI's Waypoints to be installed server-side.
- Create, edit, delete, track, and save waypoints locally.
- Waypoints are stored separately for each world and multiplayer server.
- Existing singleplayer waypoints are safely migrated to the new storage system.
- Waypoint sharing, visibility settings, and preferences remain supported.
- Teleportation continues to respect server permissions.
Automatic Deathpoint Improvements
- Deathpoints are now created and managed client-side.
- Added optional automatic deathpoint removal when returning to your death location.
- Includes safeguards to prevent accidental removal immediately after respawning.
- Deathpoint names now use 12-hour AM/PM timestamps.
- Prevents duplicate deathpoints and preserves existing saved markers.
Optional Waystones Integration
- Automatically imports Waystones discovered or activated by the player.
- Imported Waystones appear in their own waypoint group.
- Prevents duplicate imports.
- Deleted imported markers stay deleted instead of reappearing.
- Added an option to enable or disable automatic Waystone importing.
- Waystones and Balm are optional dependencies. TOBI's Waypoints works without them.
Smoother Waypoint Rendering
- Fixed jittery, frame-stepped world labels during camera movement.
- World labels now update every rendered world frame rather than relying on a slower HUD callback.
- Preserved waypoint icons, backgrounds, text, and distance indicators.
- Preserved through-block visibility and existing waypoint rendering distance.
- Improved compatibility with heavily modded rendering environments.
- Added optional F3-triggered frame diagnostics, saved to
logs/tobis-waypoints-v19-frame-counters.csv.
Visual Improvements
- Improved flat waypoint icons and their consistency.
- Improved label readability and beacon overlay presentation.
- Preserved Tall Marker beacon behavior without unnecessarily raising waypoint labels.
Compatibility
- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Forge 47.4+
- Java 17
- Client-side personal waypoint functionality does not require server installation.
- Waystones integration requires compatible Waystones functionality on both client and server.
- Smooth world-label movement verified in a heavily modded Forge environment with VSync enabled. Shader-pack compatibility has not yet been verified.
Thank you for using TOBI's Waypoints and supporting its development!
