What's new
TNT Expansion 2.2.4 - Forge 1.20.1 hotfix
For Minecraft 1.20.1. Requires Forge 47 or newer (built against 47.4.23). Java 17.
A hotfix for the Forge 1.20.1 jar only. The content hasn't changed: the same 134 TNTs, the same
dynamite for each one, the same four creative tabs and the same Error 404 TNT. Existing worlds
load as they are. Replace tntexpansion-2.2.1.jar with tntexpansion-2.2.4.jar.
Fixed
- Fire from the fire TNTs never went out. The Fire, Napalm, Hellfire, Magma, Solar, Meteor and other burning TNTs placed their fire without ever starting it, so it burned forever and never spread. Some of it also hung in mid-air, one block above where the ground had been. The fire now sits on the floor of the crater and behaves like normal fire: it spreads to anything flammable and burns out on stone.
- Fire didn't set off the mod's TNTs. Vanilla TNT catches fire from nearby flames and lava, but the mod's TNTs didn't. Now they catch fire just as easily as vanilla TNT.
- The Earthquake, Tornado, Sandstorm, Gravity and Anti-Gravity TNTs ignored block
protection. They tore up the ground even with
/gamerule mobGriefing false, withgriefing = falsein the config, inside a blocked dimension, in claimed chunks, and on blocks tagged#tntexpansion:blast_immune. They now follow the same protection rules as every other blast. Entities are still thrown around, but no block is lifted. - The Mini TNT and the plain TNT Dynamite ignored block protection too. They use a vanilla explosion, which never checked those rules. When a blast isn't allowed to break blocks, they now go off without breaking any.
- A lit TNT forgot what it was when the world was saved. If you saved and quit while a TNT was lit, it came back as a TNT x5. It now remembers its type.
Improved
- A lit TNT looks like itself. A lit TNT used to look like plain vanilla TNT. Now it shows its own texture, so you can see which TNT is about to go off.
- Dispensers work with the mod. A dispenser now lights a TNT in front of it, like vanilla TNT, and throws a dynamite like a snowball. Before, it just dropped them as items.
- Mobs, lightning, teleports and the Tornado now find the ground correctly at negative coordinates. Before, they could land one block off, sometimes inside a wall.
How this release was tested
On a dedicated Forge 47.4.23 server, with the same checks run against 2.2.1 and against 2.2.4:
| Check | 2.2.1 | 2.2.4 |
|---|---|---|
| Fire TNT fires burn out on stone (fires left after 2 minutes) | 60 | 0 |
| Fire next to a mod TNT sets it off | no | yes |
| Earthquake with mobGriefing off (blocks lifted) | 666 | 0 |
| Mini TNT with mobGriefing off leaves the ground | no | yes |
| Dispenser lights a mod TNT, and it goes off as that TNT | no | yes |
| Dispenser throws a dynamite, and it goes off | - | yes |
| A lit TNT keeps its type after a save and server restart | no | yes |
The regular smoke test also passes (5/5): the mod loads, recipes load, the blast carves the
ground, protectBlockEntities keeps a chest standing, and mobGriefing off stops the blast.
In a real client connected to that server, lit TNTs were checked on screen and each showed its
own texture. The Fire TNT's crater was watched until its fire burned out.
