Looking for a fun new challenge to throw on top of Hardcore? Time is Money! Start with limited time and work your way through progression quests, repeatable challenges, secrets, and custom achievements. If the time runs out… your time runs out.

Make Every Second Count

Your Lifetime is always ticking down, and staying alive means earning more. Complete quests, hunt mobs, and keep moving.

Some quests are one-time milestones, while others can keep coming back with harder requirements. Finish them for more time, or let them expire and see what comes next. Repeatable quests get a little easier after an expired attempt, so a tough quest doesn't have to stay tough forever.

Your Lifetime appears above your hearts, and your current quest appears above your hunger bar. Don't let your Lifetime run out, or you will begin to die.

Spend Time to Buy Time

Got some time to spare? Spend it in the Time Shop!

Pick up supplies, grab something useful, or pay to swap out a quest you really don't feel like doing. The shop gets new offerings each day, so check back and see what's available.

Just remember that you're spending the same time that's keeping you alive. Shopping doesn't stop the clock!

Secrets and Questionable Decisions

There are secret quests and custom achievements for doing things you might not normally think to try. Some of them are useful. Some of them are questionable. Some of them involve throwing perfectly good valuables into lava.

Want to make things a little darker? Optional dark quests offer bigger rewards for some less friendly choices.

Morals are on by default, which keeps dark quests disabled. Turn your morals off if you'd like to see what your conscience is worth.

Pick Your Difficulty

Both modes are Hardcore challenges. The difference is how much breathing room you get:

  • Time is Money: Start with 10 minutes of Lifetime and earn normal time rewards.
  • Less Time is More Money: Start with 20 minutes of Lifetime and earn double time from all rewards.

The quests, shop prices, and other rules stay the same. Pick the original challenge or give yourself a little extra time to figure things out.

Getting Started

For Time is Money v1.0.0, you'll need:

  • Minecraft Java Edition 26.2
  • Fabric Loader 0.19.4 or newer
  • Fabric API 0.159.0+26.2
  • Java 25
  1. Create a new world.
  2. Select Game Mode: Hardcore.
  3. Click Difficulty to cycle through Hard, Time is Money, and Less Time is More Money.
  4. Choose your challenge and create the world.

Leaving the difficulty on Hard gives you ordinary Hardcore. Choose one of the mod's two modes to activate Lifetime and quests. Your choice stays with that world.

Commands

These work without enabling cheats:

  • /lifetime shows your remaining Lifetime and full quest details.
  • /tim shop opens the Time Shop.
  • /tim morals shows your morals setting and whether dark quests are enabled.
  • /tim morals on keeps your morals intact and disables dark quests. This is the default.
  • /tim morals off turns off your morals and enables dark quests.
  • /tim pen marks the enclosed pen you're standing in for animal escort quests. Close the gate first!

You can also use /TiM instead of /tim.

Controls and Keybindings

  • Numpad + opens the Time Shop.
  • The =/+ key beside Backspace also opens it.
  • Hover over an offer to see its price in Lifetime.
  • Left-click an offer to buy it.
  • Left-click the compass to cycle to a new quest for 30 seconds of Lifetime.
  • Esc closes the shop.

You can change the shop keybindings under Options → Controls → Key Binds → Time is Money.

How long can you survive? How much time do you have left?
