Time Checker
How long has this world been running?
Time Checker puts the age of your world above the hotbar. The clock starts when the world is created and counts every tick since then. I wanted it for GregTech: New Horizons, where a single world easily runs for hundreds of hours and I kept wondering how many of them went into the current tier.
It only runs on the client and needs no other mods. It also doesn't use a coremod or mixins, which matters if your modpack already has a few hundred mods fighting over the same classes.
What it shows
The display gets longer as the world gets older. It starts at minutes and seconds and adds hours and days once they're needed:
| World age | COLON (default) |
UNIT_SUFFIX |
|---|---|---|
| under an hour | 22:36 |
22m 36s |
| from the first full hour | 14:22:36 |
14h 22m 36s |
| from the first full day | 02-14:22:36 |
02d 14h 22m 36s |
Once days show up, hours stay visible even when they're zero. 01-00:05:30 is one day, zero hours, five minutes and
thirty seconds.
Under the hood this is the world's total tick count, with 20 ticks to a second. In singleplayer it stops while the game is paused. On a server it shows the server world's age and keeps counting as long as the server runs, whether you're online or not.
Features
Press F6 to hide or show the HUD. You can rebind the key under Options → Controls → Time Checker, and the mod
remembers your choice after a restart.
You can change how the text looks: any color as a hex value (FFFFFF, #55FF55, or 80FFFFFF for half-transparent
white), normal, bold or italic, with or without a shadow, and at any size from 0.25× to 4×.
You can also move it. Anchor it above the hotbar, to a corner, or to the top center, then shift it a few pixels with the X/Y offset. In GTNH that's usually necessary, because NEI and the various overlays already sit on most screen edges.
The HUD hides itself while the F3 debug screen is open. If you'd rather keep it, you can turn that off.
Every option can be changed in game through Mods → Time Checker → Config, or by editing config/Time Checker.cfg.

If you mistype the color, the game won't crash. The text turns white and the log tells you what went wrong.
Modpacks
I built it for GTNH, but it works just as well with plain Forge 1.7.10. It doesn't use a coremod, ASM, access transformers or mixins. It draws the HUD and reads the key through the regular Forge event bus and nothing else. The config is a normal Forge config file, so pack makers can ship it with their other configs.
Installation
- Install Minecraft Forge 10.13.4.1614 for Minecraft 1.7.10. That's the version GTNH uses.
- Put the jar in your
mods/folder.
You only need it on your own client. The server doesn't need it, and you can still join servers that don't have it. If it ends up on a dedicated server by accident, it loads and does nothing.
