The Portal Gun
Shoot two doorways and walk between them. Look through one and you see out of the other, live, the same room from the far wall, the room next door, or the Nether. Then step through, at whatever speed you arrived.
How it works
- Right click places the orange portal, left click the blue one, on any surface up to 64 blocks away.
- Walls, floors and ceilings. Shoot the floor under your feet and drop out of a ceiling across the map, still falling.
- Both ends can be in one world, or one in the Overworld and one in the Nether. The far side is drawn through the opening either way: no loading screen, no black screen.
- Mobs, items and anything else that wanders in goes through with you.
Speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out
Momentum is carried across exactly. A long fall through a portal in the floor and one in a ceiling keeps accelerating; walk in and you walk out.
Worth knowing
- One pair per player. Shooting again moves that colour.
- A portal on a floor pairs with one on a ceiling, and an upright one with another upright one. Shoot a mismatched pair and the other end closes, and the gun says so.
- A portal placed with nothing to pair with yet shows as a shut face in its own colour, so you can see where your first shot landed.
Requirements
- Minecraft 26.3
- Fabric Loader 0.19.5 or newer
- Fabric API
- Planeshift, which does the seeing and the crossing
- CodxLib, which does the internal workings for menus.
Status
Under active development. Placing, looking through and walking through all work; portals seen through portals show a flat colour rather than going on forever, which is the next thing on the list.
