TheBear’s Jean Grey

Take control of the battlefield with the power of Jean Grey. Enter another mind, command enemies to defend you, jump between supported bodies, and unleash a psychic wave that freezes nearby threats.

TheBear’s Jean Grey brings a different approach to superhero gameplay in Minecraft. Your greatest advantage is the ability to change who controls the fight. Position your own body carefully, choose a useful target, and combine psychic abilities with a build that suits your playstyle.

Enter Another Mind

Mind Control lets you possess supported humanoid mobs and other players, seeing the world through their perspective and directing their movements.

The body you choose matters. Its equipment and supported attacks give you different ways to approach an encounter. Take over a ranged attacker to fight from a distance, use an equipped humanoid for close combat, or possess another player and operate their inventory while control lasts.

During possession, the bottom HUD reflects the controlled body’s health, armor, and equipment. When you return, Jean’s own inventory is restored.

Your physical body remains behind, vulnerable while your attention is elsewhere. A hit to Jean’s abandoned body interrupts possession, so finding a safe position is an important part of using the ability effectively.

Move from Mind to Mind

Mind Hop lets you jump from your current body into another eligible nearby target without returning to Jean first.

Use it to reposition, change equipment, or escape a body that is about to fall. A successful chain depends on the targets around you and the distance between them, making awareness and timing valuable throughout a fight.

Augments let you specialize this style further, offering different tradeoffs for control range, time spent in a body, and the preparation of supported special actions.

Turn Enemies into Protection

You do not always need to take direct control.

The Protect command turns a target into a temporary defender for Jean. It provides another way to respond to danger while keeping your own perspective and movement.

Strike Self forces a commanded target to damage itself. Supported attacking bodies use their attack animation, while bodies without a suitable attack animation use an adapted head movement.

These commands give Jean several ways to handle an encounter: take over a useful body, recruit protection, or turn a dangerous target’s aggression inward.

Stop the Battlefield with Mass Freeze

Mass Freeze sends out a spreading psychic wave that holds affected living targets in place.

Use it when a fight becomes overwhelming or when controlling several threats at once matters more than possessing a single target. Its cooldown makes the moment you choose to activate it an important decision.

Ultimate augments provide different specializations. Choose options that change the affected area, allow Jean to move within a smaller field, protect teammates from being frozen, or alter duration and recovery. Each choice shapes how you use the ability and what you give up in exchange.

Develop Your Own Playstyle

Jean Grey uses the character-specific Mastery system provided by TheBear Heroes Core.

All base abilities are available from the beginning. Progression gives you new ways to use those abilities through 16 Jean-specific augments.

Earn Mastery through eligible combat contributions, Minecraft advancements, raids, exploration, and meaningful ability use. Progression is separate from vanilla XP, and repeated farming earns reduced rewards.

As you advance, you unlock up to three augment slots. Build around possession, support, precision, or Mass Freeze. Improve projectile accuracy at the cost of slower preparation, extend control range with a shorter time limit, or choose an Ultimate specialization that fits your role.

At Mastery level 20, Capstone choices introduce further changes to how your abilities work together. Limited slots and incompatible choices mean you must decide which strengths matter most to you.

Jean’s progress is saved separately from other heroes and remains yours after death or switching characters.

The Brand New Day Look

Equip Jean’s hooded outfit, featuring a dark olive jacket, brown layers, and a covered face.

The costume brings the mod’s Brand New Day appearance into Minecraft, giving Jean a distinctive silhouette alongside her psychic abilities. Her transformation item and costume pieces are available through the shared TheBear’s Heroes Creative tab.

One Shared Heroes System

TheBear’s Jean Grey integrates with TheBear Heroes Core for a consistent HUD, shared controls, a common Creative tab, and the Heroes Mastery menu.

Play with Jean on her own or alongside TheBear’s Cyclops. Both characters use the same foundation while keeping their own powers, augment choices, and progression.

For multiplayer, install the required mods on the server and participating clients. TheBear’s Cyclops is optional.

Possession supports selected targets, and available body actions depend on the mob and its equipment. Not every vanilla or modded creature’s special ability is supported.
