# 1.22.1 - Hilltop services and AEtro interface update

Minecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge 21.1.264

## Interface

- Rebuilt the survival inventory and crafting-table interface around the AEtro cabinet style: thick red trim, stepped corners, a dark lower face, layered bevels, shaded recesses and fading preview panels.
- Added olive recipe rows, icon tabs, a gold action button and segmented condition/material bars. Crafting previews display the selected recipe's actual output.
- Added a searchable recipe browser for the player's unlocked, compatible 2 x 2 or 3 x 3 recipes. Crafting uses the normal server-owned crafting slots, consumes ingredients and transfers the real result; it does not grant free items or unlock recipes.
- Retained manual crafting and normal inventory transfers. Inventory panel positions can be moved and reset, and the AEtro, Ember, Slate and Crimson themes persist between sessions. Native slot positions are restored when the custom screen closes.
- Added a matching pale-framed hotbar with olive slots, a gold selected slot, stack counts, durability and cooldown indicators, and support for the player's offhand. Health, hunger, experience and armor indicators remain functional.
- Applied the shared borders, shading and button treatment to the mod's equipment, belt, armory, CRM crate, prison supply, resident dialogue and menu screens. Creative inventory and small-window fallbacks retain their native behavior.
- Added hold-to-open feedback for closed CRM and prison storage in survival, with a mouse prompt, progress indicator and completion particles. Creative interactions and already-open storage remain immediate.

## Hilltop residents and equipment services

- Resident interactions now use a live NPC portrait, dialogue text and service choices, without an inventory-style service grid. Earl works on equipment held in the main hand.
- Improved resident appearance, including Earl's beard, apron and blacksmith workwear.
- Earl's full repair costs 4 Salvaged Scrap and preserves names, enchantments and other item data. Items that have already broken and disappeared cannot be restored.
- Expanded the one-time 8-scrap improvement to eligible melee and ranged weapons, including optional TaCZ guns. It adds 2 damage and, for damageable weapons, 50% maximum durability. Projectile bonuses are handled on the server.
- Retained Hilltop Colony, its six residents, settlement protection, barter, contracts, forged equipment and natural generation from the earlier Hilltop release.

## Fixes

- Fixed the initial held-item synchronization when opening resident dialogue, so the service screen shows the equipment the player is actually holding.
- Retained the prison approach crash correction: woodland branch connections check the current block before applying branch-only properties, and tree generation records successful writes only.
- Kept the internal rickgrimesbelt registry namespace for existing-world compatibility.

## Validation

- All 11 required dedicated-server GameTests passed, including branch crash regressions, Hilltop generation and resident counts, equipment services, payments and protection.
- A native Minecraft client smoke run passed: resident dialogue, inventory transfer, manual 2 x 2 crafting, server-confirmed recipe-browser crafting, theme selection, panel drag/reset, slot restoration, the hotbar and the 3 x 3 crafting-table screen.
- Checked the inventory, recipe browser, resident dialogue and hotbar in native in-game screenshots.
- Tests used disposable project worlds. No user save or CurseForge profile was changed.

## Installation

- Install this JAR on both the Minecraft client and server, replacing the previous main-mod JAR rather than keeping duplicate versions.
- Naturally generated locations appear in new, previously ungenerated chunks. Existing structures are not replaced by this interface update.
- This release does not replace the separate optional walker-mask durability server addon.
