The Vanilla Expansion

Development is currently ongoing for the 26.2 Fabric port! ETA of the Fabric port is July 2026

A port to NeoForge is in consideration after the release of the Fabric ports. New features are already planned after releasing the ports.

Side Note: I am a solo developer new to Minecraft modding. I can only work on this mod outside of my job so development will be slow. Also… this is my first mod so please bear with me. :)

NOTE: This mod is not an update or fork of any similarly named mods. If there's a problem about this, please contact me. Thank you!

Vanilla Expansion is a mod that adds a lot of items and blocks to expand just a tiny bit the Vanilla experience. Please use JEI/REI/EMI for all the recipes for this mod, but most added items and blocks are straightforward to craft.

Here are the features you'll find in this mod:

Coal and Charcoal Chunk

These chunks can be used to cook 1 item at a time for Furnaces, Blast Furnaces, and Smokers

Charcoal Block

Enough said. Coal Block but made out of Charcoal

Bundle of Sticks and Block of Bundled Sticks

An item for compacting a lot of sticks

Pile of Paper

Just for compacting paper

Barrel of Food Items

Available for compacting Apples, Potatoes, Carrots, Sweet Berries, and Chorus Fruits

Material Shards

Shards are basically equivalent to nuggets for ingots. It's available for Diamond, Emerald, and Nether Quartz Variants.

Tool and Weapon Heads

These tool heads and sword blades can be used to upgrade your existing tools through the Smithing Table. Enchants will not be retained however and downgrading is not possible. Heads are available for every tool set is available in Vanilla and the Expansion.

Smoked and Burnt Nether Quartz

These Nether Quartz variants are craftable by Smoking (Smoked) and Blasting (Burnt) Nether Quartz. It also comes with Smoked and Burnt Nether Quartz blocks.

Fired Brick

By cooking a brick again, you get a fired brick. This can be used to make the same blocks as the normal brick does.

Emerald Tools and Armor

Emeralds are not just for trading, it can also be used for tools and armor! The tools mine and the sword damage close to Diamond tools but a bit brittle. The armor has the same armor value as Diamond, but half the toughness of Netherite and a bit lower durability than Diamond.

Redstone Tools

Redstone tools mine significantly faster, twice the speed compared to Netherite tools (statistically)

Quartz Variants Tools

Quartz Tools has almost the same durability as Stone, a bit faster mining speed as Iron, but more damaging compared to Netherite. These are available in Normal, Smoked, and Burnt Nether Quartz.

Lapis Lazuli Armor

Lapis Lazuli armor has higher total armor compared to Chainmail, and the same durability as Iron.

Reinforced Leather

By first crafting Raw Reinforced Leather and cooking it, you can get Reinforced Leather.

Planned for the future: The armor set has the same armor value as normal Leather, a little bit better in durability than Leather, and a little bit let toughness as Diamond (not final values).

Empowered Netherite

Crafting Empowered Netherite starts by empowering Netherite Scrap with a lot of Redstone. The armor has the same armor and thoughness as normal netherite and it provides a speed boost. The tools has the same durability of normal Netherite with a faster mining speed!
