What's new

New Features

  • Advanced Filters: new "ADVANCED FILTERS" screen to filter the bestiary by hostility (passive/neutral/hostile), movement (ground/aquatic/flying/stationary), combat style (melee/ranged/explosion/special attack), threat level, source (vanilla/modded), and other traits (variants, animations, drops, special attacks, weaknesses, resistances, immunities).
  • Entity Comparison: new screen that lets you compare the stats of two scanned entities side by side.
  • Defense Detail: new dedicated screen listing weaknesses, resistances, and immunities by damage type (fire, explosion, poison, magic, lightning, etc.).
  • Drops Detail: new screen showing loot drops along with their conditions (player kill, looting, damage type, entity state, weather, equipment drop, etc.).
  • Threat Level system: automatic analysis of each entity's danger rating (Minimal, Low, Moderate, High, Extreme, Critical).
  • Field Report: new stats dashboard showing vanilla/modded entity counts, cataloged variants, favorites, combat telemetry, explored biomes/dimensions/structures, and a rank system (from "Novice Surveyor" to "Omniscient Archivist").
  • Favorites: entities can now be marked as favorites (new dedicated network packet).
  • Entity Whitelist/Blacklist: new server-side config options (in universalscanner-server.toml) to restrict which entities can be scanned. An empty whitelist allows all entities except those blacklisted; a non-empty whitelist restricts scanning to only the listed entities. The blacklist always takes priority over the whitelist. Entities are specified using their registry ID (e.g. "minecraft:zombie"), and the filter reloads automatically with logging for invalid or unregistered IDs.
  • Live target HUD: updated HUD overlay with real-time target tracking (distance, threat, combat and movement data) and new status badges (NEW, CLASSIFIED, EXCLUDED, OUT OF RANGE).
  • Banner notifications: new "NEW ENTRY DISCOVERED" and "DATABASE UPDATED" messages when scanning a new entity or an already known one with updated data.
  • New UI sound effects: added support for looping UI sounds.

Changes and Improvements

  • Automatic migration of player bestiary data (new migration service) to ensure compatibility with saves from previous versions.
  • Reorganized configuration: split into Client and Server config (previously only Client config existed). Server-wide settings (including the entity whitelist/blacklist) are now found in universalscanner-server.toml.
  • Updated and expanded the internal scanner analyzers (entity stats, speed, ranged attacks, AI goals, spawn data).
  • Reworked the main GUI components (bestiary, catalog, entity model panel, theme and audio settings, spawn list, variants).
  • Added a new error message for the scanner on cooldown ("SCANNER RECHARGING") and for entities excluded from scanning.
  • Updated English, Italian, Spanish, and Russian translations with all the new strings introduced.

Fixes

  • Various internal updates to networking, server-side event handling, and item logic, consistent with the new features (updated bytecode across nearly all core mod classes).
