Description

The Starwheel Codex** is a Minecraft Forge profession mod built around celestial magic and steampunk engineering. Study the Moon Tome and become an Astrologer, or open the Engineering Manuscript and follow the path of the Mechanic. The two disciplines reject one another, yet both pursue the same question: should mortals obey fate, or build a new one with their own hands?
(Note:
Version 1.21.1 is a major update for this mod. It currently features four classes: Astrologer, Mechanic, Angel, and Demon.
The mod is now designed more as a class-based RPG mod that lets you choose your profession at the start, similar to the Origins mod.
Skills are now unlocked exclusively through achievements—material collection is no longer required.)

## The Story

Long ago, people believed the night sky was merely a chart of events already past.

Then the first Astrologer discovered that the stars were not recording history—they were predicting it. Every light in the heavens pulled upon life, death and chance. Moon phases shaped blessings, tarot cards reflected destiny, and beneath a radiant stellar dome, even time itself could be brought to a halt.

Across the city, the Mechanic guilds refused to entrust tomorrow to distant celestial bodies. With brass, redstone and steam, they built machines that could think and fitted soul-like sparks inside turning gears. Bombs warmed in their hands, Mechanical Allays searched crowds for “funding,” and a confident one-wheeled robot named Claptrap followed its owner into battle.

The Astrologers declared, “Fate is already written among the stars.”

The Mechanics replied, “Then fate needs a new set of gears.”

Wardens now guard echoes from a forgotten age, while the power inside the Wither can push either profession beyond its mortal limits. Choose a path, illuminate your skill constellation, and decide where this age of starlight and steam will lead.

## Astrologer

Astrologers study moon phases, command tarot cards and interfere with fate itself. Their strengths are control, survival and celestial utility, powered by a unique Star Power resource.

### Astral Lectern

After becoming an Astrologer with the **Moon Tome**, you can craft and use the Astral Lectern—a magical ritual focus with several functions:

- **Stargaze:** Receive a different blessing or curse according to the current moon phase.
- **Storage:** Access your personal Ender Chest inventory.
- **Crafting:** Open a crafting table directly from the lectern.
- **Mages' Gathering:** Purchase a rare item that refreshes every day, with music discs appearing more frequently.

### Divination

Unlocked by using an **Astrologer Ring**. Three tarot cards cycle before you; press again to select one, then invoke its effect.

- **The Fool:** Deceive a monster's hostility and temporarily force it into neutrality.
- **Death:** Tear away a portion of the target's health or execute a critically wounded enemy.
- **The Hanged Man:** Refuse fatal damage for a short time.

### Starlit Domain

Unlocked by defeating a Warden as an Astrologer. Unfold a brilliant stellar dome that freezes most creatures within it and slows other players.

### Fate Weaver

The ultimate passive unlocked by defeating the Wither as an Astrologer. Maximum Star Power increases to ten, and fatal damage automatically invokes the Hanged Man. Such a miracle has a long internal cooldown.

## Mechanic

Mechanics believe in dependable construction, sufficient gunpowder and one extremely talkative robot companion. They specialize in explosive damage, summoned allies and unconventional resource acquisition.

### Bomb

Craftable after becoming a Mechanic with the **Engineering Manuscript**. Throw it in an arc toward your crosshair to create a terrain-safe area explosion at the point of impact.

### Claptrap

Unlocked by using a **Mechanic Ring**. Consume one redstone block to summon Claptrap, a one-wheeled robot companion. It follows its owner, aggressively seeks enemies, rams and knocks back targets, and occasionally offers surprisingly relevant commentary.

### Collect Funds

Unlocked by defeating a Warden as a Mechanic. Consume one redstone block to summon a Mechanical Allay. It searches for a nearby target carrying items, takes one entire stack, returns it to its owner, and concludes this remarkably brief “transaction.”

### Mechanical Pioneer

The ultimate passive unlocked by defeating the Wither as a Mechanic:

- Claptrap no longer self-destructs after three minutes and remains indefinitely—provided its owner does not travel too far away.
- Claptrap gains a Guardian-style ranged beam attack.
- Claptrap periodically throws a random beneficial potion to its owner and prioritizes Fire Resistance in dangerous environments.

## Professions and Skill Loadouts

- Astrologer and Mechanic are mutually exclusive professions under normal gameplay.
- Active skills can be dragged into three shared skill slots bound to Skill One, Skill Two and Skill Three.
- Passive abilities become active immediately after unlocking and require no slot.
- The creative-only **All-Knowing Book** unlocks both professions and every skill for testing and showcases.
- A dedicated creative tab contains the mod's items, profession tools and spawn eggs.

## Main Features

- Two complete profession progression paths
- Tarot divination, lunar blessings and the Starlit Domain
- Claptrap and Mechanical Allay companions
- Custom models, animations, particles and interfaces
- A multifunctional Astral Lectern and daily magical market

Choose the stars, or choose the gears.
