Silicon Age 0.4.0
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
- New Chip Tester: feed it a CPU or GPU chip and it sorts it into Budget, Standard, Select or Golden grade. Memory and controller chips aren't graded, and each chip is only tested once.
- Golden chips are faster but run hotter; Budget ones are slower and cooler. The average tested chip is no faster than an untested one, so testing is about choosing where each chip goes.
- A CPU or GPU keeps its chip's grade, shown in the item's name and tooltip, and a hot part needs a PSU and cooler with room to spare.
- Put the tester in a cleanroom and half as many chips come out Budget; newer generations swing further both ways.
- Contracts and quick sales pay by grade: Golden parts are worth 175%, Budget only 70%. Deliveries hand over your worst parts first so the good ones stay in your chest.
- Chips and parts from older worlds were never tested and keep working exactly as before.
- The handbook's Finishing Chips chapter now covers speed grades and the odds at each generation.
