The Sift: Ollie's Mobs

What is The Sift?

Hi! I'm Ollie, and I made every mob, block and texture in this mod in Blockbench. The Sift is a secret world hidden behind the portal in the Ancient City. It has its own biomes, its own times of day, and lots of creatures, some friendly and some really not.

This is Early Access, which means it's still growing. New mobs get added all the time.

How to get to the Sift

1. Find an Ancient City deep underground (in the Deep Dark).
2. Walk up to the big portal frame in the middle. It lights up, and a row of 8 note blocks appears in front of it.
3. If the portal ever gets blocked, play the secret tune on the note blocks to light it again: 1 3 7 6 5 2 4 8 (1 is the lowest note).
4. Walk into the portal.

Getting home: walk back through the Sift's own portal, the one you arrive next to. Or use your Homeward Whistle: you get one free on your first visit. Hold right-click for 3 seconds and it takes you back to your bed (or world spawn). Crafting a new one takes 2 Tunewood Planks and 1 Echo Shard.

Beds don't work in the Sift, so don't try to sleep there!

The three times of day

The Sift doesn't have day and night. It has:

• Thrive: super bright, and you get Strength.
• Flow: calm and normal.
• Endure: tougher monsters show up, and the Harmonizer might rise...

Biomes

• Singer's Meadow: Healthy Skulk hills, Tunewood trees and glowing Sunbeam Flowers.
• Carrapace: bone-filled badlands with ribcage pits and pools of Ichor.
• Lullaby Hills: rolling hills with Lullaby Cities and illager camps.

Bosses and minibosses

• The Monarch (boss): put Carrapace Bones on top of a beacon in the Sift to summon it. It spins, lunges, flies and makes ghost copies of itself.
• Harmonizer (miniboss): a 7-block-tall plant that powers up every monster near it and calls in Sprouts to help.
• Dartback (miniboss): charges at you and fires 20 darts at once. It gets angry at half health!

Monsters

• Hunter: fires an orange and blue beam where you're standing, then a second beam that follows you, then leaps on you.
• Trapper: surrounds you with a ring of shields, then jumps over them onto you. Break the shields to escape.
• Spiked Sentinel: fires 10 spikes that chase you. Hit them to smash them.
• Hurler: throws a spiky ball that bounces around.
• Scavenger: lobs orbs that turn the ground into soul sand.
• Trickle: never hurts you, but it makes a crackly patch under your feet that makes you super slow.
• Roamroot: a walking stump that sprays quills.
• Sprout: powers up the monsters around it. Take it out first!
• Fusefly: a flying puffer that explodes when it dies (it doesn't break blocks).
• Bloombud, Seedling, Sculk Slasher: small, quick and snappy.
• Pollinator: sneaks up and explodes like a creeper, and shoots fireballs from far away.
• Nester: a fast zombie.

Friendly mobs

• Singer: a big gentle mob that sings you a song. Right-click it for a song.
• Nuzzle: rubs its head on you to say hi.
• Echo Golem: carries an Echo Block on its head.
• Blub, Trill, Slabber: little critters that mind their own business. (Don't hit the Slabber.)

Blocks

Tunewood (logs, planks, stairs, slabs, fences, doors), Sunbeam Flowers, Healthy Skulk, Sifter Gravel, Carrapace stones and bones, Lullaby stone and grass, Nuzzle Wool and Nuzzle Tents, Echo Blocks, and Ichor.

Requirements

• Minecraft 1.21.1
• NeoForge 21.1 or newer
• Works in single player. Multiplayer servers need the mod on both the server and every player.
